The theme for Darren & Naomi’s romantic wedding was Vintage Circus. “We wanted a day packed full of fun, totally relaxed and whenever anyone thought back on it they would smile,” the groom told me. “The theme was a total surprise for all 200+ that were invited, with the first clue being as we walked down the aisle together as man and wife, and Entry of the Gladiators (the traditional circus theme tune!) was played by the organist.”

The ceremony was held at Clifton Cathedral, which with it’s dramatic architecture had been described by many as “a monstrosity of a building” in the past. However in recent times this building style has come right back in vogue and the building has  even just been used used for British design store Habitat’s most recent photo shoot.

“Following the Catholic ceremony (where we snuck in some Fatboy Slim by the organist), we travelled in a vintage Hillman Imp to the reception to be welcomed by a 11ft tall ringmaster,” Darren continued. “On arrival, guests were greeted with pomegranate Mojitos, English afternoon tea sandwiches and home made scones with lashings of clotted cream and strawberry jam. Each guest also had a welcome bag containing a red nose, home made moustache-on-a-stick, kazoo, fortune fish, popping candy, an invite to an after party and a CD with the soundtrack of the day.”

“Next to the main hall we created a ringside retreat with old black and white circus movies played on a projector, hay bails, typewriters to write us a message, cupcakes, home made lemonade, Original Viewmasters with circus 3D images and a suitcase full of circus props and toys. In the main hall, we made our own popcorn and candy floss stand, which was next to our own Face Cut out stand for people to poke their head through and have their photo taken. We also projected on to the wall the table plans, which included a picture of every guest which we had a red nose superimposed on their face.”

“As the evening went on, an old photobooth arrived for every guest to have their photo taken as our guest book, retro cocktails were made with glowsticks and slices of pizza and cake pops were served. Our first dance ended with all 220 guests joining in a mass conga round the room and finishing on the dance floor where people danced the night away, and then a magician did close up magic while our entertainer juggled knives.”

A Day of the Dead and a Hello Kitty themed wedding?! Could Serena & Brent’s wedding be more perfect for Rock n Roll Bride if it tried?!

The bad news is that I don’t have any further info on the wedding, but they photos were just too awesome to not share and I’m sure you can get some awesome DIY ideas just by looking at what they created. I am literally dying over the Hello Kitty in the bouquet and her Tarina Tarantino jewellery. Classic bridal style?! Screw that!

Sean & Carrie’s Brisbane wedding has really brightened up this cold November afternoon for me (and it’s my second aussie wedding of the day – I really must be feeling the cold!) I am grinning from ear to ear over the sunny and mis-matched colour palate.

Inspired by the wedding blogs they read throughout their planning, the couple scoured etsy for a lot of the gorgeous details you see here. Carrie explained, “Prior to getting engaged I had no idea about the HUGE world of weddings out there on wedding blogs. Etsy.com was also an endless inspiration and a principal contributor to our wedding.”

“Our table decorations were made up of:
Pinwheels from Crossroads Cottage on Etsy.com, the pinwheels sat in ceramic jugs I bought from Ikea for next to nothing.

Jars of all shapes and sizes collected by family and friends, where I wrapped the most incredible lace, from my now mother-in-law Sue’s vintage lace collection, around the top of the bottle and we used these as the vases for the flowers.

Our favours were little paper lolly bags from Pulp Creative Paper and we filled them with Pastel coloured Sugarcoated Almonds and Candy handmade with Sean loves Carrie from Candy Addictions in Montville, QLD.

We also had a bunting handmade with “JUST MARRIED” from littlekittenhomemade from etsy, it was delightful.”

“We used hay bales from the local farm produce store and laid quilts over them for guests to sit on. I used some quilts of my mother-in-laws and had some made bysewfunbymonique from etsy. The fabrics Monique uses are just gorgeous and they looked so nice and homey on the day. Fantastic idea as it is cheap and effective and I will now have the quilts forever.

I also bought 2 prints from Dazeychic on etsy. Both delightful – “All you need is Love” and “Today I am happier than a bird with a French Fry”. I bought frames from Ikea and we used them as decoration on the day and props for our photos. Again, something I will now have forever.

We didn’t have a cake, however I was inspired by what I’d seen on blogs and we had an Ice Cream Parlour! We had too many people for ice cream, so my dear friend and bridesmaid and family all got on board to help design the desert parlour and bake the goodies for the day. It was so much fun, we had old fashioned jam sponges with real strawberries and cream, meringues, wonderful Australian lollies which reminded us or our childhood – Strawberries and Cream/Chicos/Teeth/Freckles, we had plates of macaroons, coconut ice, apricot balls, honey joys and chocolate crackle (both traditional Aussie goodies) were wrapped in cupcake holders from The Cupcake Wrapper Co. which I found on Etsy.com. Every one absolutely loved it, it was a major hit and let me tell you EVERYTHING was devoured.”

“Dear friends of ours also created our wedding sign, which we hung up at the entrance to the property and the hanging monograms which we hung in the garden. So blessed to have so many gifted friends and all so willing to help.

We also had a homemade photo booth. We wanted as many photos of guests as possible, completely inspired by numerous wedding blogs we decided to hang fabric in the garden and supplied disposable camera’s for our guests. We also had the cutest props ever – moustaches on a stick, pink lips on a stick, some silly sunglasses, also inspired by the numerous wedding blogs I trawled before the wedding, we bought these from pertyfultings, also found on the wonderful etsy. Fab DIY idea.”

“Last but certainly not least, I could not recommend more Anna from Missprintdesign in New Zealand, also found on etsy. Anna did all of our Save the Dates, Wedding Invitations, our seating cards and our thank you cards to each guest on the table. Another truly talented lady, so very helpful and accommodating to all of my ideas. The remarkable comments about all of the above were endless from our guests. Anna was an amazing find for me.”

Awsome huh!? I am just so in love with the creativity of this wedding it’s unreal! Be sure to check out the full vendor list below

I think I possibly have one of the cutest weddings ever to round of today’s posts. When I first laid eyes on Mia & Matthew’s 60′s inspired wedding, I kid you not, I literally squealed with delight. How happy do these photos make you feel?! I KNOW! Adore…

The wedding took place in Devon at St Gregory’s RC Church in Kingskerswell. The reception then followed at Colehayes Park in Bovey Tracey, a Georgian House in beautiful grounds. As soon as the couple got engaged they knew their wedding would have a 60′s theme. Mia is obsessed with everything from this era and even had her dress made by a friend to an authentic 1960′s dress pattern. Mia explained, “I’m obsessed with vintage so it had to be that way! I also wore a floral headband of golden coloured alstroemeria which was made by our florist, gold t-bar sandals which I found in the Miss KG by Kurt Geiger. I wore yellow plastic daisy earrings from Spitalfields Market, a silver engraved locket which Matt gave me on the morning of our wedding and an amazing wedding cartoon bracelet which I bought from Da Da Dreams on Etsy. My sister also gave me a lovely bluebird bracelet and matching garter on the morning of the wedding, which she’d had handmade for me. They’re amazing! In the evening I changed into a 1960s lace mini dress with cape which I found on Ebay and borrowed a vintage faux fur cape from my sister.”

They hired two 1960′s Rolls Royce’s and at the reception they played nothing but 60′s music. The bridesmaids even wore authentic 1960′s vintage dresses. “Finding the bridesmaids dresses was a real mission,” Mia told me. ”I wanted them all in vintage pastel maxi dresses and we searched high and low to find the perfect ones. We got there eventually! My sister Becca, friend Emma and friend Corinne all found dresses on Etsy but and my friend Daisy was really struggling to find anything right when my grandma donated a dress which happened to be sitting in the back of her wardrobe! It’s the blue bridesmaid dress and it fitted her perfectly. I love that my grandma used to wear it. To make the dresses all work together I bought some white daisy trim from Ebay to add to the edges.”

The rest of the wedding was all DIY including the cake, with each layer being made by a different person. “My sister and chief Bridesmaid, Becca, made the main cake – a 2 layer chocolate sponge with yellow buttercream icing and iced orange butterflies, and my Grandma made matching vanilla cupcakes. And my mum made a fruitcake too. I was chief kitchen assistant!” Mia laughed.

To get everyone talking, the couple hosted a quiz all about themselves. The bought some old trophies in a junk shop and decorated them with their faces to give out as prizes! They also made personalised snowglobes to act as super kitsch placenames. “We bought a job lot of DIY snowglobe kits from Baker Ross Educational Supplies and put a photo of Matt and I inside with all the guests names printed on,” said Mia. ”It took me, Matt, my mum and dad about 6 hours to make them but it was worth it as everyone had something cute to take home!”

As many of you will already know, I like to pride myself and my blog on individuality and posting some of the best, exclusive and new weddings out there. However rules are made to be broken right?! I actually saw and loved Alicia & Jack’s wedding a while back on another wedding blog (I even included it in a Thursday Treats post) but when their videographer Thomas of Vantage Point Films sent me the link to their gorgeous video (which hasn’t been seen elsewhere) I couldn’t help but as if I could share some of the photographs taken by Carla Ten Eyck Photography too. Sound good?

“For most wedding vendors, a couple like Alicia and Jack reminds us why we do what we do” Thomas began. ”Just when you’re thinking ‘another day, another wedding’, they infuse their cool style into the day, and put the ‘art’ back in ‘artist’ for you. They were hip, they were classy, and two of the sweetest people you’d ever want to work with. Of course it helps when, as a videographer, you get to shadow photographer Carla Ten Eyck all day, as she navigates her hometown of Hartford, CT. It makes my job a lot easier when the photographer is on the top of their game.”

I then got to speak to the bride, Alicia who explained that unlike a lot of ’girlie girls’ she had never been one to fantasise about her wedding day. She is sooo the perfect Rock n Roll Bride inspiration! ”Unlike many of my girly-girl friends, I hadn’t fantasized about my wedding day for my entire life and I certainly had no idea of what I wanted the dress to look like. I tried to go through the motions of trying dresses at the bridal shops- you know, the whole bridal circus…. but as soon as I discovered this Betsey Johnson dress  I knew I’d found it. I’d been admiring and wearing her fashion since I was thirteen. This dress just fit me perfectly, in more ways than one.”
