Shalma & Leo were lucky enough to find their photographer David through a feature on Rock n Roll Bride so as soon as the excited bride emailed me to tell me that they’d chosen David I was already looking forward to seeing what he would come up with for their engagement session. Over the past few years David has truly become the one to watch when it comes to his pre-wedding shoots. He’s always pushing the boundaries and never fails to impress with his unique eye for detail.

Shalma & Leo wanted to go for a film noir, classic film and super stylised shoot and in an unusual departure from his usual hyper colourful style, David decided process this entire shoot into black & white to fit in perfectly with this theme. “This couple are into their photography big time” David said “but they’re also in their classic films and wanted to have a pre-wedding shoot that referenced one of their favourites, A Bout De Souffle.  This was a french film where the characters mostly smoke and drink coffee a lot – so we tried to recreate the streets of Paris in Richmond!” Go check out the stills from this film - Shalma & Leo got their outfits styled down to a ‘t’!

Oh. My. God. can someone please tell me what’s going on over here?! A few weeks ago I got an email from Harriet Mellor, a journalist for the Daily Express, one of the most widely read newspapers in the UK. She was writing an article about 5-9ers, people like me who still work full time and run their own business in their spare time. She wanted to interview me to be included in this article and of course I was over the moon to oblige.

If you’re in the UK, I hope you were able to go pick up your copy today but for all the rest of you, here’s the text around my ‘bit’…and that huge photo of my pink head!

Do you remember Anna & Ryan’s Old Fashioned Love Affair wedding? Well, Mysi & Craig, the photographers of that soiree sent me their very own wedding – they got hitched a few weeks after!

Mysi & Craig got married at a lodge in the middle of nowhere, near her parent’s house in Illinois. They made a lot of the details  – throwing themselves wholeheartedly into the DIY! They created their own programs to look like newspapers and got their invites printed onto handkerchiefs, the design of which was by the amazing etsy artist Heather Jenny.

I’m taking a break from less pretty stuff to share this gorgeous session by Cathy Empey. Cathy attended a photography workshop held by Jessica Claire and took these a-a-amazing images whist she was there. The details are of course fabulous (check out that super duper cute newspaper decorated cake & cake topper!) but her perspective is what really drew me in to these…stunning.
