Retro Rockabilly

I am absolutely crazy in love with Jessica & Dave’s retro rockabilly wedding! Not wanting to stick to tradition, Jessica & proposed to Dave over a jungle themed¬†cake! She explained:¬†

We had actually¬†had no plans of ever getting married, but a few things changed¬†and my views on the whole institution of marriage softened a bit.¬† I knew that I wanted to get married, but I had no idea how I was going to bring up the subject, so it just happened sort of spur of the moment.¬† One day we were watching Ace of Cakes, and they were making a jungle themed cake.¬† I¬†studied lemurs in the rainforest of Madagascar, so I turned to Dave and said “Will you get a cake with two lemurs on top of it with me?”¬† and he said something to the effect of “What, wait, huh? Why?¬†Are you asking me to marry you?”¬† and I said “yes!”

Hardcore.

Weddings like Hugo & Jenn’s are the reason I became obsessed with offbeat, alternative, unique and rock n roll weddings. With their roots firmly planted in the New York hardcore scene, this couple wanted a wedding nothing short of perfectly ‘them’.

Thanks to Matt for sharing this awesome couple and their fantastic wedding with us. I have too. much. love!

ps you may have noticed a few tweaks to the layout of the site including a brand spanking new search function…wooo! I’d love to know what you think of the changes so if you’re reading this via rss then come on over and have a gander!

After giving myself an impromptu day away from my computer yesterday I have come back to a plethora of emails full to bursting with weddingy gorgeousness. I can not wait to get blogging it all!

I’d better start the day with the most important announcement however..the winners of the Todd Ritondaro New York Love film contest. I have been overwhelmed with votes¬† – over 2400 of you took the time to read the couple’s stories and vote for your favourite – yey! It got pretty close at times but I am very excited to¬†let you all know¬†that the winners are….

Kate & Dan!

Woooo! Well done guys – you will be meeting up with the lovely Todd sometime next month to film your love story! I can not wait to see the final result and of course give it the premier it deserves right here on the site.

Thanks to everybody that took the time to come and vote!

When You’ve Got A (New York) Minute…

New Yorker David M had the oppotunity to shoot a gorgeous Polish couple on his home turf. He explains:
My dear friend Adam Ludwik has spent over a month visiting America for the first time. He is one of Poland’s best wedding photographers. You can see his work at his website and blog.¬† Right before he left to photograph another lucky couple on Polish ground I had a chance to shoot his clients Agata and Alfonso right here – in our old good New York. We have visited a few very familiar locations and tried to put a new spin on them.

As always, thanks to David for sharing these stunning images and speaking of New York, have you voted yet for your favourite’s to win the ‘we fell in love in NYC’ contest yet? Boy, is it hotting up over there!
