As keen movie fans, the theme for Elizabeth & Steve’s wedding was easy to choose, especially when they realised they could have their ceremony at the amazing Tropic Cinema in Key West, Florida.

“When we got engaged, we knew we wanted the whole day to be a big fun celebration, and our first thought for a venue was Tropic Cinema,” Elizabeth explained. “It’s an amazing volunteer run theater in Old Town Key West, and we are huge movie buffs. We even had our 2nd date there. When we contacted them, they were ecstatic to be a part of our big day as they had never hosted a wedding there before.”

Their brightly coloured scheme also suited the venue perfectly. “Instead of fighting the existing color scheme, I ran with it and used the CMYK theme in all our stationery and decor,” the bride continued. “Lori, the event manager at the Tropic was floored when she saw that we used their colors. Plus, you can’t really have a better setting for a colorful wedding than Key West!”

“Our wedding had a definite movie theme with an island twist, but overall, we just wanted it really fun and playful. We had to throw some zombies in there somewhere of course too, as we’re huge zombie dorks. Also everybody kept asking us about the Domo cake toppers. Steve won me a Domo plush at Universal’s Islands of Adventure right after we got engaged, and he quickly became our mascot…. I bought the figurines from an online comic store and made all the little accesories out of polymer clay. Who knew they would be such a hit!?”

The couple put their own stamp on their day by DIYing as much as they could. Elizabeth found the tutorial for the paper roses on youtube and spent 10 months in the run up to the wedding hand making them all. That’s dedication for you!

Michael & Michelle are huge fans of the Disney movie ‘Up’ and so wanted to style their engagement session around it. They actually say that they saw a lot of themselves in the main characters of the film, who met when they were children, fell in love and then got married.

They handmade all the props themselves including ‘My Adventure Book’ which they filled with scenes from the film as well as significant photographs from their time together as a couple.

The couple chose a park down the road from their apartment in Singapore as the location as they themselves and the props they used were really the main focus of the shoot.

Why have I never seen a Psycho themed wedding before? This is so incredibly cool! Robert, a film director, and his bride Suzi, a make up artist, sent out generic invitations for their June 5th Wedding.  It included a strict meeting time and hints of being transported  to a secret location.

This year is 50 years since Psycho terrified audiences all over the world and the film-loving couple thought that the very house that the movie was filmed it would make the perfect location for their wedding. It was the first ever wedding held at the Psycho House. The pair really went all out with their theme which started when and the groom appeared from the House escorted by none other than Norman Bates as Mother.   He descended the famous staircase and the bride entered from Janet Leigh’s room #1.   The recessional ended with Robert carrying Suzi back to the hotel under the watchful eye of Norman Bates.

After the ceremony the guests signed the hotel ledger, sipped champagne and posed under the Bates Motel sign before piling back on the bus and heading Michael’s Bar and Grill, Burbank for the reception.

Marty McFly: Wait a minute, Doc. Ah… Are you telling me that you built a time machine… out of a DeLorean?
Dr. Emmett Brown: The way I see it, if you’re gonna build a time machine into a car, why not do it with some style?

Back to the Future is my favourite movie. Like ever…I am also quite partial to the sequels and am still convinced that in 5 years time we will all have hover boards. I even have a die-cast Delorean on my windowsill that Gareth got me one Christmas…yes I am that much of a geek.

So when I saw this engagement shoot starring my ultimate dream car (shh don’t tell the Honda outside) well there was no way I wasn’t going to feature it!

“I was shooting this couple at an airport with their plane and some dude came out of the hangar and said that we should use his Delorean” photographer Carl told me. “I was like, YES AND YES! It was epic!”

You’re going to love Erica & Ryan’s homespun, diy wedding…and you’re certainly going to love their story. I was over the moon to receive these gorgeous images from photographer Katie and even more chuffed when Erica got in touch with all the juicy details.

“Ryan and I originally thought we would just have a courthouse wedding, and then have a big party. Of course, our parents were not so thrilled with the idea. We also did not want anyone else planning or making decisions for OUR wedding/party, because we did not want it to be the same old wedding and the same old reception that we’ve all attended twenty times before. Nothing against traditional weddings, we’re just not traditional.  We also were looking to keep it cheap simply because we think it’s silly to spend tens of thousands of dollars on a few hours. All we really needed was the two of us looking snazzy and an amazing photographer.”
