Do you remember Mr & Mrs Tattooboy? The hot tattooed couple behind one of my favourite ever engagement sessions? Well check it out – they got hitched and I’ve got the exclusive blogging rights on their killer wedding. When the couple first met, Kori was a cheerleader and Matt was a rocker and a tattooed artist. They soon fell in love and Kori starting getting just as much ink as her man!
“Kori & Matt’s aka Mr. & Mrs. Tattooboy, have this incredible rockabilly style & then some!!!” photographer Christina told me. “When I asked Kori about the details of her wedding she just told me she wanted it to be different from the normal-cheesy-blah type weddings, this made me really happy that she wasn’t giving in to what everyone else in the world was doing! Their unusual story & love for tattoos & rockabilly style was inspiration enough for these two lovers to plan their wedding.”
“They knew they wanted their wedding to have a little of that rockabilly feel mixed with a bit of Hollywood glam, but they wanted to keep it simple. Kori told me that she loved antiques & wanted a retro/vintagey style wedding & they purely got most of their inspiration from the things that they love!”
“They took their vintage inspiration to the next level when they chose that amazing museum venue,” continued Christina. “They were married at Matt’s family church, but they did all of other festivities at the Kern County Museum which has many old antique houses/buildings from the early 1900’s. And if they already didn’t have enough color with their amazing tattoos, they held their reception among these incredible old neon signs. These two high school sweethearts & their rocker edge were screaming Rock n Roll Bride from the moment I met them.”
The bride wore a dress from Enchanted Bridal, which she accessorised herself by adding the red & black tulle. She also wore fishnet stockings and totally rad boots Hot Topic. The groom wore his favourite hat and decided that instead of a traditional guest book they would ask guests to sign a skateboard.
I sneak peeked Jamie & Miguel’s wedding on my facebook page as soon as I got a sniff of how awesome their wedding was going to be. I am now so thrilled to now share the whole cantata (in all its glory) with you today! They certainly haven’t disappointed.
The wedding took place the day before Halloween at Serenity Oaks Ranch, California. The time of year really dictated their theme, with gothic and spooky influences being injected alongside the couple’s own quirky personal taste. What I love about their theme is that there is nothing tacky about their spooky wedding – no Day-Glo decorations or obvious Halloween plastic tat here!
“My initial inspiration was Sleepy Hollow meets a carnival meets a dark wonderland,” explained the bride. “The photographs were really important to me, and when I found Made U Look Photography, I just about died. I love those girls, they’re amazing and knew exactly what I wanted – they’re mind readers! I also wanted all the guests to wear all black! All I have to say is DIY weddings are totally worth it because it ends up really making your day!”
Jamie’s incredible dress and veil were handmade by her Mother. Every rose and every strip of lace was sewn by hand – that’s some serious love and commitment there, and the result is utterly fabulous! Her Mum now plans to open her own etsy store soon to sell her creations. I hope they will let me know when she does so I can point you all in her direction! Jamie’s perfectly matched jewellery came from Tales of Camelot on etsy. It was an old Theatre piece and reminded Jamie of Scarlett O’ Hara who she loves.
The bride let the bridesmaids choose their own dresses and wanted them to pick something they really loved. Inspired by the 1930’s cabaret look, she found their necklaces at Charlotte Russe. They gave their styling a really “dark” twist which perfectly matched the spooky theme. The bride’s Mum continued her DIY epic by making the girl’s hats from supplies found most at Hat Shadows on etsy.
“My Mom made the table cloths and found all the old china from yard sales and thrift shops,” continued the bride. “I used some of my favourite CD artwork to make the table numbers. I really love the white stripes so I wanted white apples like in their blue orchid video, so instead of using spray paint we did white chocolate! The invitations were done by JK Designs, another etsy store, and I drew up the design to have a tarot card look.”
I love when I get to see the weddings of people who I’ve previously featured on the blog. Candace & Tyler’s engagement shoot was freakin’ awesome (remember these cupcakes?!) but their weddings just blows everything out of the water! Words can not express…
The pair got married at Rio Bravo Country Club in California and had a truly Rock n Roll wedding – love, laughs, beer and punk rock – what else could you want?! They even had props for the guests to play with on the dance floor.
Candace wore a dress from David’s Bridal which she personalised to the highest order with vintage treats and acessories from Dixie from In Your Wildest Dreams. Her black suede shoes were from JC Penny.
Tyler even got Candace’s name tattooed on his chest as a wedding day surprise for his bride! Oh my God I love them!
Rebecca’s retro taxi session is so marilyn! In fact while they were shooting people were driving past honking their horns and shouting “Marilyn! Marilyn!”
She wore a dress from a five & dime store (I don’t know what this is…we don’t have these in Londontown) and she made her own gorgeous hairpiece.
I’ve got a second picnic-themed engagement session to share with you today, however you’ll forgive my repetition when you see these bad boys. Cupcakes + tattoos + bicycles + bunting + everything awesome you could want in one session = LOVE! Candace & Tyler are way.too.awesome. he even calls her ‘Cupcake’ AND she has the word tattooed on this inside of her fingers. Oh swoon swoon swoon… I can’t wait to see/blog their wedding. I might die with anticipation.
Talking of cupcake tattoos, did I mention that I’m getting my sleeve (hopefully) finished on Thursday?! Bring it on baby…and yes, there are cupcakes on it!
Amanda & Nick has a super chic, totally personal, 1950’s inspired wedding. From Amanda’s cute polka dot dress from Unique Vintage to the beautiful retro style photography by Made u Look Photography (which even included one roll of black & white film from an old film camera – remember those!?) the whole day ooooozes authentic, rockabilly charm. The rest of the wedding party’s clothing came from Daddyo’s and Stop Staring Clothing and everyone got pumped and ready for the big day by listening to classic rock n roll music. I just know you’re going to love it!
