I really really love these! A little bit of international charm for a snoozy Sunday afternoon. What is it with those Europeans making everything looks so damn arty!?

Katya & Andrey are from St. Petersburg in Russia and after getting married, flew that very day to Prague for their Honeymoon and wedding day shoot! They also purchased many of their wedding items from here in the UK…I told you they were truly international!
Katya’s dress was from Gothic Wedding Dresses and her hat was from no other that Primark! (If you have never heard of Primark then you are seriously missing out..high street fashion but so ridiculously cheap that you don’t feel guilty filling a basket with a whole wardrobes worth of clothes on each visit…think £2 for s t-shirt, £5 for a pair of shoes, £8 for a bag – oh yes!) Andrey’s suit was made to measure at a shop in Camden Market.

Thanks so much to Tomasz for sharing these with me.

If someone said to you ‘quintessential English wedding’ the images that pop into your head would be those of spring time, sprawling gardens, garden roses, strawberries & cream, tea & cake, posh hats, Laura Ashley, paisley and Cath Kidston Well I’m here to blow those ideas out of the water!

An urban English wedding is just as British as the traditional pretty countryside one, in fact maybe more so as a wedding in the city enables the photographer to show off London’s fantastic landmarks at their best…aww makes me come over all patriotic!  The Gherkin, The London Eye, The River Thames…these are the things I think of when I think of England…but maybe that’s because I am just a city girl at heart.
Just call me the Carrie Bradshaw of weddings!

A huge thank you to Christian & Susan of CKP Weddings for taking the time to share these with me.

So after we left Vana & Damien yesterday, David (hard working as ever) headed off to London’s Southwark for a fabulously moody pre-wedding shoot! The rain may have been pouring, but David was able to capture the couple and their most glorious…and I have to say, the rain water on the ground does make for some amazing light.

David said:
After a pretty dismal day, some sun made it through the clouds, before clouding over and pouring with rain as we started the shoot.

However, I’m never one to be defeated, so after we arrived in Southwark I found a rather interesting empty car park, a rough round the edges theatre bar, a nicely lit railway tunnel and grimy door to use as backdrops.

I usually reschedule if the weather looks bad, but as you can see from tonight’s shoot, a bit of rain doesn’t mean the images have to suffer!

I’ve got a beautiful English wedding to share..and I am rather excited about it because the photographer, Marianne Taylor and I are doing a photo shoot together at the end of this month. I’m such a big poser and I can’t wait already (I have even started the prop scouting!)

The reception of Lucy & Richard’s wedding took place in the uber chic Northbank Restaurant right on the River Thames with great views of Tate Modern and the Millennium Bridge. I love the look of this venue, so intimate yet stylish, which fits in rather nicely with Lucy’s gorgeous grey dress don’t you think?
You simply must head over to Marianne’s blog to not only check out all the ladies hats (hats are pretty much mandatory at British weddings you see!) but also my absolute favourite detail of the wedding…Bridie the Bridesmaid (yep the doggie!)

Reel Good

Super 8 video is a format that has always intrigued me.  It’s beauty and rawness gives me the same tingle of excitement as Polaroid. However the sad thing is that  it seems like this beautiful art form that is, like Polaroid, slowly dying out.  But rejoice! London based company Reel 60 are taking steps towards changing that.  Their super 8 short films are touching, inspirational and retro in it’s purest form.
OK, maybe I’m guilty of rambling a bit here, but I am just a little bit over-excited to share a couple of their videos with you.  Maybe a lot of you won’t have seen any Super 8 movies before…and you really should you know!

First up a short and sweet little promo video…

Love Promo – Wedding Cine Film from Reel60 on Vimeo.

Followed by some highlights from their 2008 showreel…I feel like I’m actually watching a film from the 1960′s!
