Song & Dony were married in October at The Los Angeles County Arboretum & Botanic Garden. Their wedding had an unusual ’mythical creatures’ theme which the couple told me all about.

“The wedding theme was mythical creatures as two mythical creatures to decide mate for life. Song made all the invitations, ring pillow, mythical creature themed decorations, tissue paper pom poms and mythical creature brooches that were for wedding parties.”

“We created new mythical creatures that suited each person. Dony made all the mythical creature cake decorations with fondant and we also built the wedding arch for the ceremony with birch branches and colourful ribbons.”

“We just wanted a great party, nothing formal and stress free,  with all the craft projects that I enjoyed to do, ” continued the bride.  ”Both of us are artists, animators. So we really used skills that helped save money and more importantly be able to make the wedding as we wanted. Also, our artistic friends came in very handy who helped a huge part of the wedding: the band, a wedding planner, make-up and hair. The party was sweet and fun.”

Song wore a gown by Sook Hyun Hanbok (seriously check out the eye candy on this website!)  which she got in Korea when she went to visit her family, “I didn’t want to wear white so when I went to Korea to visit family, I got a modernized hanbok dress which is Korean traditional dress. I liked the puffy shape so I don’t need to get stressed out about diet or anything. I just wanted stress free wedding and treated as my big craft project.” Her shoes were by the same designer and her headpiece was made for her my a friend.

Incredible! This super creative wedding makes me so joyful. I love the fact that the theme is unusual but totally reflects the love and likes of the couple…and this cake is too cute for words!

Oh Axioo, Axioo I love you! Have you ever seen anything as beautiful as Frank & Catherine LA session?

The couple dressed up in their favourite vintage items for this shoot to celebrate their engagement. They shot in some of their favourite spots around the city. Although it rained all day, the couple were totally up for exploring and getting some amazing shots.

Be sure to check out the couple’s wedsite too. It’s utterly charming!

In the words of the lady herself, I am so titstastically excited to share Britt & Mike’s wedding with you today. I have literally been on the edge of my seat since July in eager anticipation of seeing their wedding photographs. Most of you will already know Britt, the kick ass, controversial and Rock n Roll heavy-weight behind the the Bowie Bride blog. Words really can’t express how awesome this chick is and how much I totally adore her and her killer blog.

As you can well imagine I nearly fell on the floor with excitement when Britt asked if I’d like to be the blog to share her wedding. Like she even had to ask!?

The couple were married at BOXeight Studios, a photography studio in downtown Los Angeles…and their got the subway there. Hell yes! No unnecessarily expensive wedding transport for these two! They were adamant that their wedding would be a reflection of them and would be filled with everything they love. Britt explained, “There was no way my husband and I were going to plan a one-day celebration for 365 days straight and spend 12.5K just to throw a wedding that didn’t exude “us.”  We wanted an urban/gritty/downtown/loft vibe. Something our guests could take the subway to. Something that promoted hardcore loving and hardcore boozing.”

“We wanted to showcase food that was unique to LA, so we chose Korean/Mexican fusion tacos that were served off a truck. (LA is famous for their food trucks).  Overall, we focused on traditions that made sense to us as a couple, and ignored the traditions that didn’t.  So once we got over the whole, “Do we really need to include this expensive and/or dated tradition that we could honestly care less about” aspect of it all, planning a wedding that exuded “us” became pretty easy. We reused a ton of materials for the DIY decor — most of which we found buried in our closets, or in our recycling bins… Like CD cases, corks, sheet music, bottles, vases, buttons, etc. You name it, we probably tried to reuse it for our wedding decor.”

Confession: I have been looking forward to Britt & Mike’s wedding for like, a year. Britt runs the awesome blog Bowie Bride where she’s been sharing with us their “oh so pec-u-liar” journey to the alter in her own, totally kick ass, anti-wedding industry and super colourful, DIY-mad way.

I first ‘met’ Britt about a year ago when she entered a contest on my site. She actually won, and since then I’ve not only been slightly obsessed with her blog but I’ve been slightly obsessed with her. In a girl-crush kinda way! We actually probably talk everyday, how mad is that?! We have a mutual love of Maine Coons though so we always have something to talk about even if it is just exchanging photographs of our respective pets on Facebook.

Anyway, I digress. Britt & Mike got married in LA last month. They DIY-ed the whole thing and spent only $12,000 to do it. I am SO FLIPPING EXCITED that I get to be the blog to share it. I literally can not wait!

I don’t post that many videos on their own as I’ll be honest, it takes a pretty damn good video to keep my attention for more than a few seconds. Angel & Lilly’s Save the Date however is in a whole other league of radness. I love them!

The couple, who made their own video are already married in their eyes (although legally they are ‘domestic partners’ – stupid Californian same sex marriage laws) as last October the two of them headed down to city hall to do the paperwork followed by an In-N-Out burger!

“It was just the two of us” Angel told me. ”After that was taken care of we went to In-N-Out for lunch, it’s sort of a Valentine’s Day tradition for us so it seemed like the perfect place to celebrate. Then we spent that night at a friend’s Halloween party in our zombie garb. Perfect end to a perfect day. The whole thing was very laid back, but we’re excited to get to celebrate with our friends and family this year.” They plan to do it all again on their anniversary this October and so made this video to invite all their friends & family to their pre-Halloween, circus/carnival themed wedding.

If this video is anything to go by their wedding is going to be seriously awesome! Thanks for sharing it girls!
