Marquina & Dan’s New York engagement session is the perfect reflection of them. I knee as soon as I read the discription by photography Casey that I would love them. “Marquina is very much the ‘rock n roll’ bride – she is a dancer and model but more importantly, she competes in air guitar competitions! Dan is the stable center (straight laced architect) that Marquina is in constant motion around. For their engagement session they wanted to go to some of the places that meant a lot to them.”

I just adore the energy in these pictures and the fact that Marquina is jumping around like a mad thing!

I don’t feature a whole lot of boudoir on Rock n Roll Bride, not because I don’t like it or approve or anything like that (hell, I did one!) But it’s quite rare that I get sent boudoir submissions that have a Rock n Roll edge. A lot of what floats around the internet is all sexy, see-through underwear, airbrushed to perfection, lying on a messed up bed…page 3 inspired…you catch my drift. Anyway, when this session from Jessica Zais landed on my desk I saw none of that.

Courtney showed up to her boudoir session ready to go with two vintage swimsuits (the black one belonged to her grandmother and was actually a lifeguard uniform – sexy!) The result is a classic, 1930′s elegance that I just can’t get enough of.

There is something a little bit spooky about this day after session and I can’t put my finger on exactly what it is…maybe it’s the dark lipstick vs the pale skin (very stylish don’t ya know!?) or maybe it’s the vast and slightly creepy abandoned location. Either way my inner goth freakin’ loves them!

Evan & Angela’s wedding was at the Inn at Laurel Point in Victoria, BC.  They had an intimate event with just 20 or 30 guests within their own bridal penthouse suite with an antique/bird theme. They set up a typewriter to be used a vintage style guest book, birdcages around the room and old-time candy for goodie-bag favours. They are both photographers as well so there were antique cameras scattered about as well as lots of shots taken with Evan’s old Polaroid Land Camera.   Angela’s veil was handmade by an artist in Portland, OR and her dress was designed by local Seattle designer Chrissy Wai-Ching. It’s a pretty damn amazing dress huh?

For The Love

I’m pretty sure that Gwen & Joel are secretly models because no regular couple are this adorably photogenic right? I can’t really say what it is I love about these – because it’s everything!

Thanks to the wonderful Lizelle for sharing these with me
