Alex & Adam’s Simple, Nerdy & Rocking Shindig

British born Alex met Adam years ago whilst working at Woolworth’s. She was studying journalism and he was a checkout boy by day, rock star by night! They went their separate ways for a few forgotten years before realising at a Jet gig that they were better off together. “We are the total yin and yang couple who jigsaw together in a strange and puzzling way which somehow works,” they explained. “Fiery Alex and passive Adam! Our wedding was a mashup of our two personalities which resulted in a simple, nerdy, unrefined yet rocking shindig.”

The ceremony took place at Flying Duck at Roma St Parkland and the reception was held at The Fox Hotel. Alex wore a one-of-a-kind dress which she made herself with the help of her best friend. “It was handmade with materials and pattern sourced from Spotlight Australia by my best buddy / best lady on the day. I’d probably say it’s most definitely a one off by ‘Sary Creations’ – she’d get quite a giggle from that,” laughed the bride. They also handmade her flower headband as well as all the bouquets with silk flowers sourced from FJ Flowers. The reception decor and details were all also mostly DIYed, from materials sourced from Spotlight Australia.

For special and personal touches, Alex’s Mother officiated the emotional ceremony and Adam’s brother acted as usher by dressing up as a Storm Trooper – random but seriously awesome I say! The Groom’s band, Fractions, played the reception as well as accompanying Alex and her Dad down the aisle. The couple’s first dance was a 4 minute ‘dance-off’ to The White Stripes, ‘Fell in Love with a Girl’ – no traditional wedding rubbish here!

Isn’t this just the coolest wedding ever? I’m loving how 2011 is shaping up already.

The fabulous, awesome and amazing (can you tell I love them quite a lot!) Seth & Tenielle of Feather & Stone Photography will be travelling around the USA from February to April and would love love love to shoot a Rock n Roll wedding whilst they’re out there. If you’d be interested in having photos as gorgeous as these for your wedding (with a rather large chance of also getting your wedding featured on the pages of Rock n Roll Bride I might add) then pleeeease get in touch with them by emailing info@featherandstone.com.au

They explain, “We’ll be flying into Cali early February 2011 and making our way to Seth’s old hang out in Florida (Seth is American born and bred) where we’ll be based for 6 – 8 weeks, but free to travel to other cities/states to shoot YOUR wedding.”

“If you’re having trouble finding a photographer that is available (that you actually like), here is your second chance! Yes, we’ve assumed everyone likes us. Why not? Ignorance is bliss!”

“So check out some of our work and drop us an email. It doesn’t matter if you’re a southern bell, DIY vintage bride, or an Elvis impersonator (PLEASE give us a call if you’re an Elvis impersonator) if photography is important to you then your people need to speak to our people.”

How To…Make Your Own 1960’s Inspired Mod Floral Hair Wreath (Tutorial by Elsie Flannigan)

I heart Elsie.

I’ve been following her awesome crafty blog, A Beautiful Mess, for the past year or so am not afraid to admit that I’m a bit of an super fan. Elsie got engaged to Jeremy in August and so secretly I was hoping she’d share all her wedding planning and DIY ideas on her blog. Last week I received an email from Elise and her sister Emma telling me that not only have they started their own wedding blog, Le Wedding Party, but that Elsie would like to share some of her amazing DIY tutorials on Rock n Roll Bride! Eeek…I am so excited that she even knows my little blog exists, let alone that she wants to share her stuff with us!

I hope you enjoy Elsie’s awesome 1960’s headband tutorial, and if you do be sure to let us know because there are many more where this came from if you want them!

I adore mod 1960s styling! One of my favorite collections from this era is enamel flower brooches. I love the colors, shapes and seemingly endless variety that exists in the vintage universe.

Supplies needed: 7 to 12 Vintage Enamel Brooches (I purchase these anytime I am vintage shopping as well as on Etsy and eBay), elastic, scissors.

One Night Only – Beautiful Bali Wedding

I challenge you to find anyone who’s heard of Jonas Peterson and doesn’t love him. His meteoric rise to ‘rockstar photographer’ status has been quite frankly ridiculous but with the credentials and talent he has behind him,I can’t help but know that this success is nothing short of deserved.

So popular is Jonas now that I usually don’t even ask if I can blog his weddings anymore because more often than not they are snapped up by other bloggers quick smart but when I saw Sian & Barry’s beautiful Bali wedding I knew I had to give it a go…and what do you know, he said yes!

I was lucky enough to even get chatting with the couple all about their awesome wedding too. Hella bonus! The wedding was held in the beautiful Villa Pemutih, Padang Padang, Bukit Peninsula, Bali. The couple actually live in Dubai so they decided to employ a local wedding planner to organise most of the legalities and details for them. They really wanted classic local dishes for the food to had a local Indonesian Buffet by a local company, Bali Catering Company including some of their favourites – Gado Gado, Beef Rendang & Fish Curries. The same company also supplied all the cocktails which helped to keep the wedding intimate and relaxed. “We didn’t want to over complicate things, it’s Bali after all” the couple told me!

Classic Vintage with a Twist of Awesome

I am really starting to fall head over heels in love with Matt Johnson Photography…and I’m not afraid to admit it! His images are subtle, unobtrusive and captures beautiful weddings with all the justice they deserve.

Elodie & Greg’s wedding was one I fell in love with as soon as I saw the first frame. Her amazing vintage-inspired outfit, jewellery and so-now white lace gloves make me smile with glee and his rad groom style puts every other groom to shame! The no-jacket/waistcoat look is totally Rock n Roll and looks way-too-cool when matched with his boys in braces. The details of this wedding are to die for – from the birdcages, the white heart motif, the retro ‘admissions’ sign, the outdoor chandelier. Awesome.
