The Music Sounds Better With You

I featured Ali & Dean’s London engagement sesh a while back, and even then I knew their wedding would be totally Rock n Roll. Both of them are in bands and so music was a huge part of their day. The bride walked down the aisle to ‘November Rain’ and their tables were all named after their favourite bands. The day even finished with the pair playing a ‘first set’ on stage to all their guests instead of having a first dance.

Personal and unique touches were added throughout to give the day a perfectly ‘them’ vibe including using their own VW camper van as transport, the profiterole topped cheesecake instead of a traditional cake and the Groom’s 1960′s vintage suit.

An Elephant, Vegan & Love Themed Celebration

This elephant themed, vegan love-fest wedding makes me so happy! Abigail & Zak actually got married last October so this wedding was really a celebration of their love and partnership involving all their friends & family.

“We wanted it to have a theme of elephants, loyalty, and compassion” they told me. !That’s why we had the paintings of our parents there and also why our “favors” were gifts bought from heifer international (bees and trees) in our guests’ honor. The most important part of our vision was that we were already married last October, so we didn’t want to pretend this was something it wasn’t. We wanted it to be a celebration of our partnership, and our friend who introduced us was our celebrant at the party. We did our vows in the past tense, and most importantly, we wrote and read our marriage manifesto about what partnership and marriage means to us.”

“We had an all vegan snacks and dessert buffet (we wanted to be able to eat everything at our own wedding!) we used as many local products (flowers, beer, etc) as possible. Our cake was homemade by a good friend. We had no strangers there, which was important. Friends catered, photographed and bartended.”

“Since between us we’ve lost three parents, rather than have photographs and candles (which seemed a little funeral-y) we had a good friend who is a local artist do portraits of our parents so that they would be recognized there, but in a more lighthearted way. We also incorporated heirlooms and special items from our grandparents and parents in the decorations.”

A Quirky, Vintage & Super Personal Wedding

You might remember Amy & Darren from their fabulous All the Fun of the Fair engagement session. I knew back then that their wedding would be a super stylish and quirky affair and they sure haven’t disappointed. I am SO EXCITED to share these with you.

The wedding took place at a private estate which belongs to Amy’s Godfather called Ipley Manor in Marchwood, Hampshire. The couple actually got engaged at the same venue 18 months earlier when Amy popped the question to Darren at her birthday party in front of all their friends & family. She snuck the proposal into a game they were playing. The answer was multiple choice and only he could answer it!

On the day Amy wore a beautiful one off Temperley dress while Darren wore a suit from Jaeger with vintage bow tie and hankie. Amy arrived in a vintage Mustang driven by her father and they were married in Amy’s godfather’s new pool room where an oak floor was laid over the pool itself. Amy’s aunt made the cake and their tables were named after their favourite haunts in London and they had written a potted history of why for each table to make everything really personal.

Rock n Roll Hearts & Paper Cranes – Lauren & JP’s Perfectly Rockin’ Wedding

Lauren & JP’s amazing wedding video has certainly done the blog-land circuit, but have you seen their gorgeous photographs?! Well my little kittens, guess which blogger has got them to share with you all?! Oh yes the PINK one that’s who!

I got chatting to the bride all about their day. Enjoy…

“We started planning this shin-dig a year ago, and our initial goals were to have a fancy but fun party– a celebration that was filled with our closest friends and family. We wanted the whole thing to be a reflection of us. For instance, our food consisted of 4 sections: German, American, Italian, and Asian-Fusion. Bratwurst, soft pretzels, sliders, bruschetta, and chinese take-out boxes just to name a few items. We wanted it to all be on small-bite side, so people could run to the bar, run to get food, and then go back to dancing, mingling, etc.”
