All Shook Up

Jessica & Ronnie’s kitsch Elvis themed wedding was just too damn Rock n Roll to ignore. Stand by for all the juice…

First and foremost I would like to just say Kat your blog was definitely a huge source of inspiration through all of my wedding planning! Your excitement for all things wedding is so fantastic to read that even after our big day, I still take a looksey to check out all of the great wedding photography you find! Thanks for doing what you do! It was pretty wild when Tom asked us if he could send you some of our photos, I said “of course I know Rock n Roll Bride, that sounds great!”

I totally thought wanting to get married in red was going to have to make me spend a bazillion dollars that we didn’t have on getting one made, but I randomly found it at David’s Bridal. It was a bridesmaids dress for only $160!! I just had them take off the spaghetti straps that it came with because I thought it gave a more vintage feel to it. My husby’s outfit cost more than mine with his special Wingtip Shoes costing almost as much as my dress but it was so worth it because man did he look hot in them!

Speakeasy Swing Wedding

I’ve got a feeling you’re going to love this detail-heavy dance-fest. The moody light, the swing band, the bride in her stunning yellow gown, the cupcakes, the portraits…yep this is one pretty damn cool wedding.

Andrew & Aye got married atThe Thaxton in Louis, MO. They converted the indie venue into their speakeasy and swing-dance themed wedding. Both the bride & groom wore custom made outfits  – the dress was made by Toni Whitaker and his suit was by Duchess Clothier. The fabulousKim Massie band provided the entertainment.

Ella & Sam’s London wedding was such a gorgeously quirky affair that not only I was boiling over with excitement to blog them, but Emily from the ridiculously popular (and in fact one of my personal favourite blogs) Once Wed was too. So we’ve decided to join forces on this one and to both share our favourite bits of this gloriously English affair. For all the ceremony and portraits head over to Once Wed and I’ll handle the beautiful reception details.

You might actually recognise Ella from her sister’s wedding that I also featured on Rock n Roll Bride a while back - who could forget those wonderful red shoes?! While Tara opted for a bright and colourful summer wedding, Ella & Sam’s day was one of enviable vintage glamour and sophistication - with a touch of Rock n Roll of course! I am absolutely crazy for those bridesmaids in sparkly black jackets and the un-corordinated patterned tights (which I think they wouldn have got from Topshop as I have a couple of them in my wardrobe!) Sam’s awesome floral shirt and bow tie combo and Ella’s beautiful Benjamin Roberts dress.

The wedding which was held in Grenwich, London was one of English Heritage and followed by a secret dinner at Davy’s Wine Vaults, decked out with candles and hand-chosen gifts for everyone.

“I always wanted a winter wedding full of candles and fairy lights” Ella told us “and Davy’s Wine Cellar in Greenwich provided the perfect blank canvas for us to decorate and add the personal touches we wanted to surround our guests with. Each guest was given their own personal present as a favor and Sam personally decorated all 80 of the Scrabble-themed namecards to make them laugh upon finding their seat; he was literally covered in feathers and glitter at the end of his little DIY session!  The staff at the venue were so kind and lovely and really made the day. They pretty much let us do whatever we wanted and they let us pick our favourite food, a good old British roast dinner.”

Follow up posts are always fun, I always think when I see an engagement session ‘ooh I wonder what their wedding will be like?’ So it’s great to find out the answer! Nik & Nicole’s Desperate Housewife session gave me high expectations for their big day, and boy am I not disappointed. I am loving Nicole’s crystal encrusted shoes by Steve Madden (customised with the crystal by Nicole), cuffs and hairpiece from Dalita Moda and her phenomenal fishtail dress (check out the back!) designed by the bride and made by Carole Pitts. The bottom even detached for the dancing in the evening. Also check out that fabulous custom made ‘BRIDE’ necklace, also by Dalita Moda. It’s pretty bad ass right?

The bridesmaids look every bit SATC chic in their daring black dresses, also by designed by Nicole and made by Carole Pitts, and their fishnet tights…and the boys in all black – hummanahummana…

Backyard Beautiful

Lauren & Alexander got married last summer in their own back garden, surrounded by 35 of their closest friends and family. The whole day was a DIY affair and a perfect reflection of who they are as a couple. Lauren looks amazing in her simple Betsey Johnson dress and Moschino Chic & Cheap shoes, while Alexander bucked all the trends by wearing a casual T-shirt and Jeans from Nordstrom and by spending the whole day barefoot!

The wedding had a very comfortable, home-grown, relaxed party feel. The details weren’t really that important to this couple, ignored in favour of what really mattered to them – family, friends, home and love.

You might remember Maggie & Sean from their rockabilly engagements in an Irish pub. Well photographer Karen Lisa just sent me their wedding, which rocks just as hard!

The wedding ceremony was held at a small park across from the couple’s apartment in downtown Boca Raton and the reception was at the Spanish River Library outside on the terrace. For wedding favors, Maggie & Sean had custom labels made for their favorite Irish Cider, Magners, and they created a replica of their favorite pub to serve as the bar. At one point the couple even got behind the bar to tend and serve drinks themselves. The guests had a blast! The music was played by a rockabilly band, Slip & the Spin Outs. Aaron’s Catering of The Palm Beaches provided a unique menu of 50’s diner style food made elegant – mini slider burgers, lobster rolls, grilled cheese sticks in a mini martini glass, and delicious desserts. The cake was designed by a friend of the family and featured the bride and groom enjoying their Magner’s Irish Cider – complete with tiny bottles and labels. It was one of the most unique and personal cake toppers I’ve ever seen!

Custom Made Class

Anna & AJ’s wedding certainly rocked pretty damn hard. They had a kick ass party at San Chez Bistro in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Although the day looked really classic and gorgeous, it certainly was edgy and unique in a lot of ways, which was a perfect reflection of who they are. Photographer Jill described Anna as a free spirit and who just kind of did things her own way, while still putting together a really classy celebration.

Big Rock Candy Mountain

Even if I do say so myself, today’s posts are freakin’ awesome. You’ll see why…

First up Taylor & Dominique’s ridiculous - in the very best way – casual Californian wedding. The details make me swoon. Her 1950’s vintage dress and veil, their tattoos, the cute little owl cake toppers (made by Taylor’s Mum  – Dominique’s Mum make the cake) the bridesmaid’s Betsey Johnson dresses - what’s not to love? This is one seriously smokin’ awesome and freakin’ cooool couple.

Classy & Funky

Who says your wedding has to have one theme?! What I love about Simon & Cherie’s day is while there are certainly traditional and classic elements to this wedding, it’s the funky and personal touches that make it really rock. The scooter complete with the ‘just tied the…’ sign, the bride’s purple flower in her hair and the groom’s fabulous suit and braces…and of course their beyond kick ass rings! The pair actually had other rings for their ‘real’ wedding rings but they used these for their ceremony…apparently the priest nearly had a heart attack when he saw them!
