Backyard Swanky

You would be forgiven for thinking that backyard weddings are always small, budget affairs? Well not when the Bride’s parents own Portefleur estate! This surely made for a super swanky venue and wedding. Aaron proposed to Lauren with a song he wrote for her and even treated the guests to it at the reception..ahh love.

Thanks to Mathieu for sharing these with me

Kirsten & Josh’s wedding not only had a fun, retro feel, but they really went all out with their 1950’s diner theme. I am crazy in love with the Brides entire outfit – from her Dorothy ruby slippers to her cute polka dot dress made by her Mother and friend Marnie Rogers, who designs clothes for Wintersun. The gorgeous Bridesmaid had a rockabilly style to them – especially their amazing hairdos!

For the reception, the couple went all out for a 50′s diner theme, where they designed and made everything themselves. The centrepieces were giant lolly jars and each table had a different type of old school lolly, which was the name of the table (“Sweethearts” “Milk bottles” “Ice creams” “Jelly beans” etc) The place cards were black & white candy striped lolly bags with everyone’s names on them, each painstakingly tied with little red ribbons. The placemats were old records that they picked up in an op shop and they had little gifts for everyone on the table – mini erasers in the shape of burgers, fries, hotdogs and donuts, plus vintage metal wind up toys.

Each table also had a diner style spring loaded napkin holder, salt and pepper shakers and tomato and mustard bottles. Then best of all, for dinner they served burgers, hotdogs, pizza and fries. I bet their guests were thrilled – no boring wedding food for them!

The celebrations continued into the night with the couple having their first dance to ‘I remember the Bride when she used to Rock n Roll’ by the Stray Cats, finishing the night by swaying along to ‘Earth Angel’.

Thanks to the Groom’s Mother Rhonda for sending me this wedding and to the couple for putting together all the awesome info for you all.

Marie & Seth’s wedding is not only simple and beautiful but how could I see these and not rave on about Marie’s swoon-worthy tattoo?! Doesn’t she look so beautiful and classy? Her dress was custom made by San Diego designer Valena Valentina and the co-ordination and design of the wedding was by  Cynthia of Cynthia Zatkin Events.

Be sure to head over to Sara’s blog for more info and gorgeous photographs!

I have a crazy busy day today but I just had to drop by to share this ridiculously amazing wedding venue and decor. The modern Shanghai theme was together by Lotus. I wouldn’t even want to speculate how much this bash cost but the result is pretty damn spectacular – the huge cake, the millions of lanterns, the field of flowers… The Bride Ita looked uber glamorous in the Vera Wang and actually got up at 2am to start getting ready…are you kidding me?! The poor photographers! I’m sure they forgave her when they saw the results though, what an amazing wedding to shoot.
Catch you later my pretties.

One thing you can always count on in England is the rain…it will always come when you don’t want it too. In some circles rain on your wedding day is considered the worst thing that could ever happen but it others it is seen to be a sign on good luck and prosperity for the marriage to come. I am likely to think myself that neither her of these are true and as long as you still get some damn good photographs it’s all good. Plus as soon as I saw the shot with the rainbow I was sold on the whole rainy-day photo shoot idea!

Asian weddings are full of tradition, colour (the Bride traditionally wears red) and are always an absolutely massive party (I have a friend at work who got married a few months after us and she had about 350 people at her wedding!) They also go on for about a week, with all the celebrations climaxing with a ceremony that lasts for many hours.

Thanks to Craig & Chanelle Segerius Bruce for sharing..and I am very excited because I am actually doing a photo shoot with the guys tomorrow!
