Yes, yes yes this post is heeeuge. Photographer Shannon sent me a little sneaky peak of Josiah & Dana’s engagement session and I swooned as soon as I saw the shot with the silver glittery curtain behind them…but then I saw the coffee shop they started in, the photo booth shots and the cutest Rock n Roll picnic ever and I was smitten.

“This couple is sooooooooooooo cool.” Shannon told me. “Like, truly, I went away from the session thinking “Man, I have to start being cooler” because they were literally too cool. Oh, and they have great style.”

“We started at a local coffee shop, one that hosts underground bands and indie music and art shows. This space had so much character and we really spent way more time there than we intended because it was fun and completely different than the normal coffee shop vibe! We even took photobooth pictures, and pictures of them taking photobooth pictures. Then we went to a woodsy area (a secret spot of mine) and they set up a little rock n roll picnic. They brought a record player and some vinyl records, beer bottles as flower vases, cupcakes (YUM), and a few of their favorite books. Overall, it was probably one of the cutest picnics I’ve seen. Plus we all love cupcakes so that was a perk.”

A cute couple, both us glasses and fabulous fashion with that enviable vintage-cool vibe (the green dress was Amanda’s grandmother’s) rocking it with records and just generally hanging out…I just …yeah, you know I love it.

Amanda & David hopped around different locations throughout the East Side of Milwaukee for their engagement shoot. All of the places they visited had significance to their first date, the first stop being a record store. On their first date, David bought a record “for himself,” which a few months later he gave to Amanda as a gift. She holds it in one of the photos. They also stopped at Comet Cafe, which was where they had lunch together for the first time. They even brought their own favourite coffee cups for the shoot.

The gorgeous and ever lovely Josephine Sicad sent these over to me yesterday telling me the story of the engagement session of Yvon & Moyo. Remember her own engagement session that I featured a while back – Nobody Can Be Uncheered by a Balloon? (her own words) Well this one is just as glorious! The idea was ‘A Lover’s Day Out’ – a day in the life so to speak. I literally drooled as I checked these out. You will too!
You can see the whole set here.

This engagement session send in by Melissa of A Girl in Love (quite possibly one of my favourite company names ever) is true rock n roll royalty. This couple have got that effortless cool thing going on…and I’m jealous! I can’t wait to see their wedding and I’ve made Melissa promise to send them my way first!

Melissa described the day…
I had no idea that I was shooting two actual rock and rollers, but  within minutes of starting out engagement session I asked Grace if  she’d modeled and both her and her husband to be cracked up, no they  said, but she used to be in a band.  Both of them actually.  We shot  downtown Detroit, right where they used to rock and now they roll in  love and getting married in just a few months.  Even ended the session  at the Motown Museum
