My original plan today was to head out into my garden and take some snowy snaps for Photography Friday…however as I stared blankly through my kitchen window I had second thoughts and realised that it’s flippin’ COLD out there and you know what!? I’d rather stay here, wrapped in my slanket (blanket with sleeves – oh yes that is Rock n Roll!) For some further justification, I’ve got an amazingly SUNNY wedding from South Africa to share instead. This should warm your cockles…

Casey & Richard tied the knot on the 15th May 2010 (sunny!) They had the fabulous We Love Pictures there to capture their stripey seaside shindig. “We chose an old sugar baron’s estate cottage as our wedded haven – our family and friends descended from near and far to prep for the day and celebrate the occasion,” explained the couple. Dressed in a tea-length 50s Audrey Hepburn style frock with simple pumps to match, Casey traipsed to her husband-to-be thorough a thicket of coastal lushness. “Our crew were seated and standing in a clearing, aptly named  ‘The Glades’ – shielded by sunhats and paper parasols”, they continued. ”The scene was decked out with paper daisies, white ottomans, picnic blankets, deck chairs and a tree draped in white with ribbons hanging down.”

“The pre-drinks consisted of wicked refreshers with names like ‘ pink polka dot bikini’ and ‘blue lagoon’. After ‘tying-the-knot’ in true sailor fashion – signifying our union – we paraded to the beach through a cacophony of streamers and screams. Guests enjoyed yoghurt lollies as we gathered round our sandcastle for the obligatory group snap. Table settings with flags, each grouped around a sandcastle, indicated basket-sharing teams for the picnic which followed. We took our wedding snaps on the beach, guided by a giant bunch of red and white balloons. Those were my favorite moments – mad wind and beach swept happiness.”

“Our guests engaged in a stripey seaside themed photo booth before we set down to our alfresco feast – a picnic and then fish braai under cloud-breaks of swing tunes and jazzy electro melodies. A tower of giant meringues were sparkled alight before we cut our stripey red and white wedding cake. The sweet table was ravaged, only two petit fours remained from a sizey spread of sweet offerings. The party set off with a bang in our transparent bunting flagged tent – and we entered the wee hours with a shebang and shoo-wop. It was certain, we were better together.”

See, how much better is reading that than seeing more snow photos?!

Whitstable is such a little gem of a place for photo shoots. As most of you will know, my last Rock n Roll Bride photo shoot took place there but it would appear that Peri & Ryan knew some really awesome locations to visit that we never found. I mean just check out the multi-coloured beach hut. I love.

The couple, who live in the area (hence knowing all the best places to go!) are having a winter wedding in December so wanted to make sure they cashed in on a gorgeous summer engagement shoot. “It also happened to be the Whitstable Regatta that Saturday so we decided to do the shoot in the evening to catch the fireworks” their photographer Shell told me. ”It’s the best time of the day really as we got some gorgeous light, beautiful sunset and some fish and chips whilst watching the fireworks! Their nicknames for each other are muffin and cupcake hence the chalk board shots – I wanted to have a fun, whimsical feel to the shoot as they are a cute young couple, and their wedding is going to be 50s polka dots which I think will have a similar feel.”

I have so much love for Gretchen & Darby’s cute, retro, geek chic engagement sesh. Not only did the chalkboard/hearts location slay me, but their fashion choices are just so perfect…and they match each other in an oh-so-cute and not at all puke-worthy way. The super bright checked set, the crazy 70′s jumpers set and the lilac-y matching dress and tie set. Oh so adorable! I love love love them.

Forgive me, but I literally almost wet myself when I saw these shots from the hottest, newest photographer on the block, Emma Case – and can you believe it, this is only her first official ’Emma Case wedding’! (I’ve featured a wedding she shot for a friend before she decided to pursue it full time.) I got a very excitable email from the lady herself this morning and I couldn’t wait to get home to share these right away.

“Well, here it is, my very first, official, didn’t know the couple before, professional, as ‘Emma Case Photography’ wedding!” She began.
“Christie contacted me back in November and straight away I knew just how ace she was. Not only did she mention fake moustaches and knee-sliding as part of the wedding plan but she was funny and honest and completely on my wavelength. We emailed back and forth in a ‘know each other already’ type of way and by the time me and Pete were driving up to Devon on the 30th January I was a little nervous but so excited to finally meet her (we didn’t get the chance beforehand) and her soon to be husband… the Berninator!
The wedding was held at the most amazing Huntsham Court… oh man the bathroom in the bridal suite was AMAZING, oh and the library… and the… well you can see for yourselves, the whole house is stunning!

Sarah & Jeremy’s cute engagement session made me swoon with it’s classic, retro (slightly) geeky and quirky nature.  The record store location provided the perfect backdrop for the pair who love music and all things funky and cool.
