Carrie’s wedding day portraits make me so excited I could scream. Isn’t she just the most gorgeous Rock n Roll chick ever? “My entire ensemble was inspired by old Hollywood glamor and 1930’s black & white films, very Jean Harlow” Carrie told me “My hair and make-up was done by me and I kept it very straight, classic and the make-up reminiscent of the silent era. I grew up watching nothing but silent films, old horror movies and classic film noir. I wanted to appear timeless and not dated, I think I achieved my vision and surpassed even my own expectations.”

Carrie’s gorgeous ruffled dress came from “The Dresser” in downtown Fullerton and was by Pattis, the style was called “Diore”. “Originally it was $1850, but I got it on sale for a trunk show promo for 15% off. The dress was made from scratch in Italy. At the time I was shopping for the dress, I had a shaved head. The sales lady then she pulled the dress for me said “The girl with the blonde shaved head and tattoos would look perfect in this dress” the second I tried it on…I knew it was the one.” She chose a veil from www.birdcageveils.com which cost her just $59 and her shoes came from “The Dresser” too. The bracelet she wore was an heirloom of her husband’s great grandmother and was actually originally a necklace. The gorgeous brooches on the bouquets (supplied by Kari Strand at Lake Elsinore Florist) were from Macy’s and old cost about $8 each (reduced from $30!) The bridesmaids also wore dresses from Macy’s.

The Vintage Bride

I wanted to share a few images of Caitlin on her wedding day as I think she looked every bit the simple vintage beauty.

We had an intimate wedding with the whole family bringing it together from the dress, the caterer and all the details in the house
for the reception. I chose the vintage look because it not only totally works with my own personal style, it is a classic look that will never grow old. I didn’t want to look back 20 years from now and say “What was I thinking?!” Even now if you look at pictures from the ’40’s and ’50’s, you can only say how beautiful and glamorous everyone and everything looked.

Wed Like Rockstars

You know what, I was supposed to wait until tomorrow to share these but I just couldn’t. It was like having to keep a secret and I’m no good at keeping secrets!  I’m sure many of you have been waiting with baited breath to see these – hell, I know I have been dying to get these out! It’s worth the wait though I assure you.

Carly & James tied the knot at a winery in Sanger, CA. Her dress was an authentic vintage tutu style dress and feathery veil and James didn’t even want to shave on the day – he rocked it though right!? So without further ado…prepare to be blown away by greatness. A Rock n Roll Bride classic if ever I’ve seen one.

Carly & James were describes to me by their photographer Dani as‘a couple of badasses who wed like rockstars’ and after seeing these and their wedding (coming up tomorrow) I have to agree wholeheartedly. Their engagement shoot took place at a variety of their favourite spots all around Fresno. They set off at 9am with Bloody Mary’s in hand and visited thrift stores, favourite bars, some cornfields…to name a few! It must have been an exhausting day but the results are a fabulous array of eclectic style!

ps you have until Sunday 25th October to get your entries in for the free wedding photography contest - open to all – WORLDWIDE wooooo!

Jenna & Michael had a fabulously quirky, kooky and personally rockin’ wedding two weeks ago and the every lovely Love Me Do Photography were there to capture the entire thing. The couple put a lot of work into the day with DIY projects a-plenty. “We wanted our wedding to be very classic looking, but still have a whimsical picnic, day dreamy kind of day feeling” the couple explained and they certainly achieved this with ideas such as the wishing tree – handmade bird silhouettes pinned into flocks and hung from the branches – which was used instead of a guestbook and the funky chocolate moustaches that certainly made for some great pictures and were provided by Pink, White, Brown.

With Flair.

Melinda & Chris had a beeeautiful wedding at Hastings House, Salt Spring Island, BC. Mindy looked beyond stunning in her grey Badgley Mischka dress and her enviable red Miu Miu shoes. Is she the ultimate rock n roll bride or what? The whole wedding certainly had rock n roll flair, with close family and friends along for the ride. The Seattle based couple choose the venue for it’s stunning ocean view and and spectacular surroundings. Photographer Angela described the event as lots of fun, champagne, good food, laughs, music, tattoos, singing + love, yet with elegance, beauty and color.

Tattooed Lovelies Get Wed

Oh..just wow. As soon as I laid eyes on Cameron & Mike I knew I had to feature them on Rock n Roll Bride. Can you blame me?

Cameron looked just like a movie star and Mike looks so in love it can’t help but make me smile! Mike, a tattoo artist in Florida even proposed to Cameron by tattooing ‘Will You Marry Me?’ on his chest? Freakin’ awesome or what?! That’s some serious commitment – he must have been pretty sure she would say yes!

Wai-Ching Bride

Evan & Angela’s wedding was at the Inn at Laurel Point in Victoria, BC.  They had an intimate event with just 20 or 30 guests within their own bridal penthouse suite with an antique/bird theme. They set up a typewriter to be used a vintage style guest book, birdcages around the room and old-time candy for goodie-bag favours. They are both photographers as well so there were antique cameras scattered about as well as lots of shots taken with Evan’s old Polaroid Land Camera.   Angela’s veil was handmade by an artist in Portland, OR and her dress was designed by local Seattle designer Chrissy Wai-Ching. It’s a pretty damn amazing dress huh?
