On the River Bed…

When I first saw these I was like “erm…is that a bed in a river?!” I thought it surely must have been some post production/photo shop trick but no, they actually lugged about 300lb of bed 3/4 of a mile down to a river to get these shots!

“Bottom line-it. was. all. totally. absolutely. worth. it. I’m really pushing my approach and style as an effort to redefine expectations of photography” photographer Hollie told me. “Why shouldn’t my clients be pampered during their shoot and have a photographer who will create an environment of repose-it is after all, about them. I’m just so grateful for Team Lytlefoto and for having adventurous, free-spirited clients who believe in
my crazy ideas.”

Elegant & Classy 1930s Inspired Boudoir Sesh

I don’t feature a whole lot of boudoir on Rock n Roll Bride, not because I don’t like it or approve or anything like that (hell, I did one!) But it’s quite rare that I get sent boudoir submissions that have a Rock n Roll edge. A lot of what floats around the internet is all sexy, see-through underwear, airbrushed to perfection, lying on a messed up bed…page 3 inspired…you catch my drift. Anyway, when this session from Jessica Zais landed on my desk I saw none of that.

Courtney showed up to her boudoir session ready to go with two vintage swimsuits (the black one belonged to her grandmother and was actually a lifeguard uniform – sexy!) The result is a classic, 1930′s elegance that I just can’t get enough of.

Tasteful, Elegant & Edgy Boudoir

Prompted by my own soiree into the art as well as the fiery debate on the issue on Eastside Bride, I’ve been thinking about boudoir shoots a lot recently. So, it was almost certainly meant to be that I laid eyes on these perfect examples of tasteful boudoir on Kiss the Groom yesterday. Elegant, classy, edgy, ethereal and sexy all at the same time. Yes, I am definitely pro-boudoir…just as long as it’s done right.

Sweet Tooth

I actually featured newbie photographer Shannon McLaughlin‘s own wedding waaaay back in February - many of you may recognise her as Mrs Candy Corn from Wedding Bee. Well, like many of us recent brides, the thought of giving up all things wedding once she’d tied the knot was too much to bear so she decided to venture into wedding photography herself…and oh how pleased we are that she did! She has only had her professional camera for a little over a month and look how awesome she is already!

The recently engaged Veronika & Bryan acted as models for this shoot. Veronika owns her own vintage shop called Sweet Tooth Vintage through the fabulous Etsy so she had lots of amazing outfits to wear. I am also loving the various props and locations used for this shoot – an environmental centre in Philadelphia, the couple’s own home (including their insane number of pets!) and a cuuuute tandem bike!
