Crystal & Chip’s pink and white themed wedding gave me actual goosebumps as I looked at the photos. Seriously.

The couple were married in October at The Rusty Pelican in Miami and had one of my all time favourite Rock n Roll photographers, Matt Miller for  Our Labor Of Love, shooting the wedding. “Being half Filipino I have always loved Asian art and culture, so I wanted it to be part of the wedding” Crystal told me when I asked about their wedding day inspiration. “So it was a pink and black Asian themed wedding. When I was younger, I had a hard time being half Filipino. I grew up in a very small town where kids weren’t always nice about people being different. So over time I learned to embrace and be proud of my culture, and who I am.”

“The decorations and flowers were all in tune with the Asian inspiration. We used large garden roses and orchids. We wanted to used peonies but they were not in season at the time. Garden roses were the closest that we could find. The wedding favors were take-out boxes with cherry blossom chopsticks, and of course inside there was Japanese candies called Hi-chews and chocolate dipped fortune cookies. The wedding aisle had pink and black paper lanterns on Shepard hooks all leading to large planters that had bamboo and flowers where the ceremony took place. Also our cake toppers were unique. I have a great love for the brand Tokidoki. So we used 2 of their vinyl figures named Adios and Ciao Ciao as the toppers.”

“So all in all, my husband and I wanted friends and family who are from all walks being tattooed hooligans, lawyers, doctors, straight edge kids, band mates, conservatives, etc. to have an amazing time. I think that we were able to pull it off and everyone had a good time. Both my husband being creative in our own ways, him being music, with many bands and dj-ing, mine being more crafty and artsy, we wanted our personalities to be shown throughout the wedding. With that we feel we succeeded.”

“I had a major hand 98% of the crafty stuff from the wedding. I personally handmade my birdcage veil with kanzashi flowers, the bamboo table number signs, all the invitations, name cards, favors, card box, and many more things that are currently slipping my mind. Many of these were made from scratch. I take pride in how well things turned out.”

It turned our fabulously I say!

You don’t see enough Asian weddings in blog land which surprises me really as they are so colourful and full of love that one would think they were perfect blogging material. Luckily for me, photographer Tapas Maiti, who specialises in these weddings, send me this gorgeous Muslim wedding last week. I have a couple of Indian friends and I am always intrigued to hear about their epic wedding celebrations and how different they are to the western wedding. They are all about colour, family and fun!

“Tamanna & Tanveer are Bengali Muslims from Bangladesh and the wedding ceremony itself is called a Nikah.” Tapas told me. “It is quite common for the Nikah to be undertaken as a private family affair with an community elder or Imam. The Wedding Reception is the opportunity to announce themselves to their friends and relatives.”

Right my lovelies, prepare to be wowed. I discovered Amanda & Jeffery’s wedding when browsing Etsy for a tutu no less. I found seller Monique Martinez of Ouma Clothing who made Amanda’s GORGEOUS layered grey/blue, tulle dress and immediately knew I had to try and feature this wedding!

The Bridesmaids were treated to similar dresses (but each with their own individual twist) from Ultra Suite and Jeffery and his boys wore suits from Req Square in Queens Plaza Brisbane. I also can’t leave out talking about thise cute litle cars! They all belong to Amanda’s Dad and are vintage Austin A3o’s ( a classic British car.)

The Austrailian couple had their ceremony at the ultra modern Brisbane Powerhouse New Farm  and choose local buskers (who were only 16!) to perform the music. Their reception took place at River Room Southbank. Jeffery’s family come from Thailand, so in order to incorporate this into their big day, the couple infused their wedding with a beautiful Asian colour scheme. The wedding day was rounded off by a 80′s disco that went on late into the night.

Thanks so much to Amanda & Jeffery for taking the time to share their gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous day with us!

One thing you can always count on in England is the rain…it will always come when you don’t want it too. In some circles rain on your wedding day is considered the worst thing that could ever happen but it others it is seen to be a sign on good luck and prosperity for the marriage to come. I am likely to think myself that neither her of these are true and as long as you still get some damn good photographs it’s all good. Plus as soon as I saw the shot with the rainbow I was sold on the whole rainy-day photo shoot idea!

Asian weddings are full of tradition, colour (the Bride traditionally wears red) and are always an absolutely massive party (I have a friend at work who got married a few months after us and she had about 350 people at her wedding!) They also go on for about a week, with all the celebrations climaxing with a ceremony that lasts for many hours.

Thanks to Craig & Chanelle Segerius Bruce for sharing..and I am very excited because I am actually doing a photo shoot with the guys tomorrow!
