The question I dread when I meet people for the first time (which is of course the question that they then always ask) is “So, what’s the most ‘Rock n Roll’ wedding you’ve ever seen?” (and yes, they sometimes even do the air quotes {{shudder}} )

First off CHRIST, if they knew how many weddings I’d seen over the last 3 years their heads might explode. It is a lot! How do I choose between them all? How can I possibly pick just one? Or even just one style of wedding? The great thing about Rock n Roll weddings is the vast differences between them all. It would be like a choice between a pair of Vivienne Westwood shoes or a huge big pink cupcake. They are not mutually exclusive and I want both please!

The other thing that happens to me a lot is people say (usually in comments and anonymously I might add) “Well that wedding is not very Rock n Roll is it? Why did you feature that?” or even worse I once got “Who the hell are you? You’re not 50’s rockabilly in style at all! You are a fake. You are not Rock n Roll!” Erm…correct! I am not 50’s rockabilly in any way. Have I ever claimed to be?

That’s what photographer Belletold me when these landed in my inbox last week. “Katie and Aaron wanted a shoot that really captured their intimacy and also their unique sense of style. Aaron is an aspiring fashion designer. His line is called “Anticonformity and Filthy”, and most of what him and Katie are rockin’ in the photos are his creation. Never judge a book by its cover, because while they may look edgy in the photos, they were one of the sweetest couples to work with.”

I have been dreaming about blogging this wedding since October when photographer Caroline of the wonderful  Tinywater emailed me to let me know she was off to shoot a Halloween, fancy-dress gothic themed wedding…and even before shooting the wedding, she knew I was going to love it. Well judging by the number of photographs I’m including in this post you could say she was pretty much bang on! I was lucky enough to have Rachel, the bride get in contact with me to share all the glorious details!

Carly & James were describes to me by their photographer Dani as‘a couple of badasses who wed like rockstars’ and after seeing these and their wedding (coming up tomorrow) I have to agree wholeheartedly. Their engagement shoot took place at a variety of their favourite spots all around Fresno. They set off at 9am with Bloody Mary’s in hand and visited thrift stores, favourite bars, some cornfields…to name a few! It must have been an exhausting day but the results are a fabulous array of eclectic style!

ps you have until Sunday 25th October to get your entries in for the free wedding photography contest - open to all – WORLDWIDE wooooo!
