You might remember Tim & Merrill’s self-engagement shoot (and here) or their ridiculously amazing wedding. If so, you’ll be just as excited to see their ‘Honeyversary’ shoot as I was yesterday. The couple are photographers and have just been married over a year. As they moved to New York pretty much straight after their wedding they never had time for a honeymoon so they decided to take a trip to Palm Springs this month.

They stayed at  Ace Hotel and Swim Club, a wonderfully retro cool and chic place, a style which they incorporated into the style of the photographs? “We love the mid century feel that Palm Springs has” Merrill explained. ”All of the houses look so cool and the decorations are so retro-cool! While we were there we swam in the pool for hours on end, bought out all the records at the thrift stores, and of course, we did a photo shoot!”

Amy & Nick’s wonderful South Austin wedding had a distinct and very individual theme – perfect for them! Big fans of Buddy Holly and late 50′s/early 60′s music, it was important to them to really have that as a big part of their wedding. Amy walked down the aisle to an acoustic version of Every Day played live by a friend on the guitar. Nick waited to marry his sweetheart decked out in a grey suit, Buddy Holly glasses and his favorite pair of Converse. Amy wore a dress by Dolly Couture which was perfectly accented by a Magnolia flower created by Amy Barber of Sweettooth Bags.

Jen & Gavin won Ambient Studios‘ ‘Engagement Story Your Way’ contest with their unique 60′s/Mad Men idea which was fueled by their love of the show, and the style of the era. Photographers Larissa & Trevor told me all about it:

Both working within the creative industry the idea of a jumping into the character of a 60′s Advertising Executive seemed to be a great fit for this couple.  They seemed to enjoy every minute of it and we worked to create photos that not only represented the stark, strong personalities represented on Mad Men, but also their affection for each other (after all, in the end this fabulous couple is getting married!)
The Paddock, an amazing little pub in downtown Toronto was our first location and I have to say, these two ROCKED it!  The style of the bar, the classic cocktails, the clothes and Jen’s fantastic make-up and hair all came together perfectly. We also spent a bit of time in the Financial District to take advantage of the cityscape as a backdrop as well even though it was quite chilly.  All in all, I think all elements came together to create a great contemporary twist on a classic look!

Rock the Ages

Lindsey & Ross certainly have that retro cool thing going on – from their 1950s-esque beach shoot to the 1970s hippy chic garden poses, these guys certainly know how to rock the camera…and the ages.

These are too gorgeous for words. I am c-c-crazy about this sexy 1960′s ‘desperate housewife’ inspired engagement shoot from Ryan of RCJones Photography. The glasses in particular are so super sexy!

The couple also starred in an equally gorgeous modern day shoot, so be sure to head over to Ryan’s blog to check that one out too!
