Surprise! Phoebe & Teraaka’s Family Central UK Wedding

I’ve got a bit of a surprise today… {sneaky chuckle} Phoebe & Teraaka’s stunner of a UK wedding was actually submitted to me by their naughty friend Cheska as she said Phoebe would be too shy to submit herself – are you kidding me girlie?! You’re wedding is utter hotness!

Phoebe & Teraaka’s simple and perfectly English, outdoor wedding just captured my imagination with it’s almost quaint and perfectly personal nature. The wedding was DIY and family central with details such as potted flowers picked from Phoebe’s grandparents fields and garden as centrepieces which were later re-planted in Phoebe & Teraaka’s garden at their new home. The main centrepiece was an apple tree from Teraaka’s aunt and uncle in Hereford (where Teraaka was born) and was also replanted in the couple’s garden after the wedding. Phoebe’s family are from Burton on Trent (beer capital of the UK) so her father provided a few barrels of Burton beer. Phoebe’s dress and shoes were both from my favourite shop, Topshop.

Cheska told me a whole  bunch of juicy details about this fabulous wedding. I wish I’d been there!

The wedding itself is very hard to describe as Teraaka & Phoebe didn’t want it to be at all ‘weddingy’ in any sense of the word, so I apologise for being vague. They are both only young (now 22 and 20 respectively) and didn’t feel the need for a big do. With a new home and new baby boy, they couldn’t really afford anything too ostentatious. They wanted something small, to share their happiness (and new addition) with their family and friends. As only family and close friends were at the ceremony, they knew they had no one to ‘impress’ and could do everything exactly as they wished. And they said that if they thought they had really missed out, they could always renew their vows when they had more money.

Tattoo my Love

“Noel Mason is the man behind award winning Ink Tattoo Studio in Palmerston North, New Zealand and Denise Candy is the woman behind the man behind award winning Ink Tattoo Studio” Photographer Stephen told me.

“I first met Noel a couple of years back when I paid him to put holes in my body. Those holes have long since closed up, but Noel has become a good friend and is the guy responsible for the pretty drawings (kick-ass tattoos) that I wear proudly on my skin.”

“When Noel introduced me to Denise, it was pretty clear he thought he’d won the jackpot. Together, they make a wonderful, crazy couple, and I was honoured when Noel asked me to shoot his missus (with my camera, of course!) on their wedding day.”

“The night before the big day we all scooted over to Levin to see Dave Stevens at Electric Ink Studio for the tattooing of Noel n’ Denise’s wedding rings. Dave tattooed Noel. Noel tattooed Denise, and I winced like a little girl at the sight of the tattoo gun making its mark on their fingers. But the photos were uber cool, and there was definite anticipation in the air for the day to come.”

♥ Grandma ♥

I’ve decided not to schedule any post today. My Grandma died on Saturday morning of Cancer and today we are all going over to Ireland for the funeral. Sad.

RIP Grandma, we all love you very very much.

Grandma & Grandad at our wedding April 2008. They were married 57 years.

Under the Spotlight – Jeremy Harris

Not only am I loving sharing some truly fabulous photographers and vendors in this Under the Spotlight series, but I actually feel honoured that so many ass-kicking professionals want to share their work with me (and you!) Today’s interviewee is Jeremy Harris, an authentically rad and totally rock n roll photographer based in New York. With a passion for music, tattoos and yoga (!) he is most certainly the perfect candidate for a spotlight feature on Rock n Roll Bride and I hope you love reading about him as much as I did interviewing him.

Who are you and what do you do?

Jeremy Harris.  What do I do……hmmm, that’s not an easy question to answer.  I’m a photographer by trade, if that’s what you mean, but I also an avid bicyclist, yoga enthusiast, artist.  I enjoy cooking,  a good bourbon, tattoos, live rock show in small clubs

Where are you based and what cities/countries are you available to for work in?

I am based in New York and am available to shoot anywhere.  I have a valid passport and love to travel

Family Ties

This beeeautiful family/bridal shoot was submitted to me by the bride, Kim, a few months ago and I have been eagerly awaiting the images from photographer Natalie for what feels like an age! I was so excited when they arrived that I couldn’t wait to get them up. You’ll see why! This gorgeous family had a shoot that would not only remind them of their wedding day, but that encompassed them as a unit

“My inspiration, and Kim’s inspiration connected immediately!” Natalie tells me “It’s not that I “try” to be different,.. it just happens! I am attracted to art, not tradition. I am a freelance artist besides a photographer, so when thoughts/visions and poses come into my mind… I have to draw them out! I have been asked how I think of my poses when I shoot… and I really don’t know how to answer it. The thoughts come to me randomly. Driving, or just sitting at home working. Kim is so creative and artistic herself, but the two of us together, created so much style! Kim let me be creative, and completely trusted me to do whatever I wanted.”
