Paul and Fiona were married in a park in Sydney. They wanted a fuss-free wedding, one that was made a reality with help from all their friends and family members.
“Our wedding was an event that was the coming together of many creative people, both visual and entertainment which certainly gave it a feel that we wanted”, explained the couple. “Having been together for 12 years already, we were after a comfortable and informal feel, not a high pressured event. We didn’t have a theme but the feel although it was very much our special day, was a community event.”
The couple ignored a lot of the wedding ‘extras’, opting for a relatively simple, yet quirky, event. The bride arrived on a self-decorated rickshaw, surrounded by about 20 children, and the ceremony arch, under which they were married, was decorated by her and a bunch of girlfriends. The cake was made by the mother of the groom, the flowers arranged by Fiona and friends.
Davanna Catering did a wonderful job and we would recommend them to anyone. However we saved money by having lots of our wonderful friends help out. Our advice to other couples would be that you don’t need to spend a lot of money to have a wonderful wedding!”

People often ask me if I ever get bored of blogging about weddings. I can see why because usually once you've been doing something - anything - for as long as I have been doing this, it's natural to think that you might start to become a little 'over' it. So while I'm not going to pretend that I'm always thrilled, overjoyed and amazed by every wedding that graces my inbox, I can safely say that I am probably as far from 'over' this job as I could be... especially when I get sent images like Polly and Jamie's wedding to drool over.

Antonia and Harvey had a three day wedding at Roskilly's Ice Cream Farm in Cornwall. Their wedding was a true labour of love, with the couple and their friends and family working hard to create the wedding of their dreams. The weekend happened to be the hottest of the year which couldn't have been more perfect for their outdoor, ice cream farm celebration!

Sarah & Mike were married on the weekend after Independence Day. They wanted a relaxed wedding that was a celebration, and one that all their family and friends would enjoy. "I would describe our wedding theme as a 'rural, homemade, Independence Day picnic'," began the bride. "We first looked at historic mansions in the area but quickly realized they would be out of our price range and we wouldn’t have much flexibility customizing our wedding. They would pick the DJ, and we’d have to select a meal from their menu for example. Then, when driving home from Baltimore one night, we drove past a park in Carroll County that was covered with beautiful flowers and several 18th century buildings, including a working gristmill. We stopped and walked around and discussed how perfect this place would be to get married and we decided to look into it. Luckily, they did allow weddings and after all the quotes we had from the mansions we were shocked at how affordable this place was!"

The outdoor location is like a dream, and one that this gorgeous pair completely decorated themselves. They literally hand made everything - all the decor, the paper flowers and even the bride's and bridesmaid's dresses! Everything just works so well. The wedding was held at Canungra Valley Vineyards in Brisbane, Australia.

An Upcycled Ceremony in the Park: Julian & Carolyn

Some of you may recognise Julian & Carolyn as I featured their 'registration of marriage ceremony', a Malaysian tradition, way back in December 2010! Well since then, the couple have been planning the rest of their wedding celebration - an outdoor party held at Kiara Jungle Park in Kuala Lumpur.
"For the ceremony itself, we wanted a really cute/funny entrance," Carolyn began. "Our first ideas was to have a few of our friends ride in with their Harley's and then my Dad & I would zip right in with a Vespa and cute 'beep, beep'! Unfortunately (well, fortunately on hindsight) the Vespa we borrowed was giving us some problems, so we didn't go on with the plan... but my friends still came with 4 white Harley's and so I hopped onto to the back and that was my grand entrance!"

Nellie & Matt planned their Whistable wedding in just three short weeks. They wanted something small, something personal and something relaxed. They found the amazing Beacon House, right on the beach, for their ceremony and were able to use the back garden of the bride's brother's holiday cottage for the reception.
"Serendipity and our amazingly supportive family and friends brought our wedding together in just 3 weeks," the bride began. "Matt and I had been engaged for 3 years, neither of us are planners but we had a clear idea of the kind of wedding we wanted, a relaxed, seaside celebration centred around our close friends, family, good food and drink. But every option we explored in Cambridge and Brighton, our two home cities, in one way or another tied us into expensive packages, so we put off the wedding and skipped to the baby."
