Presenting: The Blogcademy Home School

The Blogcademy started as an in-person workshop. Bursting into the world in October 2012, we hosted our inaugural class in New York City. But when we flung open those metaphorical turquoise doors, we really had no idea if it would take off. We actually joked the day before that if no-one booked in we’d just have an elaborate sleepover in the space we’d hired and the internet would never know a thing about it. Luckily for us that didn’t happen! Sixteen classes later and we’ve now taught over 400 amazing people all over the world.

It’s been an incredible ride so far but you ain’t seen nothin’ yet!

Ever since the launch we’ve been inundated with people asking if we would visit their town too… And as much as we would have loved to teach classes in every place that was requested, it is simply impossible. Each of us still have full-time careers, husbands, and demanding furry children to attend to! It also started to become very clear to us that not everyone who needed our help could afford to come to class, either because of the cost or they simply didn’t have the time.

And so came the idea for The Blogcademy Home School:

We wanted to create an online space that you could engage with any time, and keep learning from as often as you needed. We wanted to film videos so it felt like you were right there with us, and wouldn’t have to read a massive wall of text. We wanted to be able to update it regularly and add new content often. Most of all we wanted to make it accessible to everyone.

Home School is not simply an online version of the workshop, it is so much more than that. While the in-person class is an all-encompassing two-day blogging event, covering a massive range of subjects, Home School ‘Blog Boosters’ are bite-sized videos which cover one topic at a time. While some are taught in class, the majority are not!

The videos range from five to twenty-five minutes each and come with a downloadable overview, a resource list or checklist, and at least one worksheet. There are no deadlines or detentions. Home School is all about learning the blogging ropes at your own pace. The worksheets are packed with exercises to help you apply what you’ve learned in the video, and help you realise your true potential!

The best bit? Each Blog Booster costs a measly $20 each!

To get you started we’re also offering a Blogging Basics video which you can access right now, for FREE! To watch it, simply visit our brand, spanking new website, log in using your Facebook account and press play! For more information about how everything works have a read of our Home School FAQ page, and if something is still puzzling you after that, don’t hesitate to drop us an email.

We’re launching with nine paid videos and we’ll be adding new content as often as possible. To be the first to know when we do, make sure you join our mailing list (via the front page of our website – where it says, “Get Our Top Secret Blogging Resources!”). As an extra little treat (and a thank you!) for doing so, everyone that signs up will receive a free PDF containing all our top secret blogging resources. It includes things like places to get awesome blog templates, links to our favourite business books and the Photoshop actions and programs we all swear by.

A Blogcademy party in London!

But that’s not all..!

One of the things we hear over and over again from our blogcadettes is just how incredible it is to meet girls (and guys!) just like them at The Blogcademy. And I wholeheartedly agree. My business was catapulted forward when I got off my butt, away from my computer, and started going out and meeting people in real life. Magical things started to happen. I made best friends for life, I worked on some incredible projects and I started to really feel like me and my blog were a part of something bigger.

We want to do that for you too and so we’re throwing a party… and you’re all invited!

The shindig will be taking place in London at the super rad The Roost (swoon!) on Thursday 24th July. There will be drinks, nibbles, a photo booth, DJs and a live Q&A sesh with the three of us. Everyone will leave with a damn fine goodie bag and an army of brand new blogging BFFs. You don’t have to have a blog or business to come along though. If you just want to come and have a damn good time, that’s OK too!

This is a networking event for those that hate networking events. I promise it will be the most fun, least pretentious industry event ever… I’d LOVE to see you there (bear hugs guaranteed!)

Tickets are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. For more information and to book your spot, head over to our FAQ and shop pages.

So there you have it, the jig is up and the news is out. We’ve been ferociously planning this new phase of The Blogcademy for months now, and I am so thrilled to finally share it with you! As always, if you have any questions feel free to drop me a line or just leave a comment below.

The new tagline for The Blogcademy is “No boredom. No blathering. No bullshit” and we really do mean it. We’d love for you to join us on this brand new blogging adventure!

  1. How exciting, how great that you keep developing the business and offering more people more chances to interact with you.

I am signed up for the Blogcademy London weekend in July. I checked the FAQ but didn’t see any answer to two questions I had

    1) will blogcademy attendeees get a discount for the home school videos ?

    2) and same for the event. I was all ready to sign up for it (as me and other weekend class attendees were starting to plan a meetup before, this would have been the perfect place) but the price seems a bit high. Any thoughts on what you could do for the BlogCademy attendees?

Unless of course there is an email to the attendees on its way to us as we speak, in which case sorry if I jump the gun…

Looking forward to lots of BlogCademy content this next few months. It’ll come at the right time as I’m questioning these days the real focus for my blog.

    Many thanks in advance
