When it came to planning their New York wedding, Jamie and Marty didn’t really know what they wanted. It wasn’t until they found their winery venue that it all fell into place. The rustic yet urban space completely set the tone of the day.

“We didn’t do anything that was intentionally unique, quirky or alternative,” Jamie explained. ” we just knew we wanted our wedding to reflect us. By doing that, the rest just naturally fell into place. We found the Brooklyn Winery, it was the first and only venue we looked at, and when we saw it we just knew!”

They had a close friend conduct their ceremony which made the whole thing really special. “We met with a couple of officiants and it all just seemed contrived and impersonal”, she continued. “So one of Marty’s closest and oldest friends got ordained and married us, it couldn’t have been more right. We knew we didn’t want a long-winded traditional ceremony with readings and blah blah blahs… The ceremony was the perfect mix of laughter (lots of laughter) and sentiment because he knew us so personally.”

“I have to give most of the credit to the Brooklyn Winery, it is the perfect canvas for a beautiful wedding and they do so much on their end”, she said when I asked about their décor. “That being said, Marty designed all aspects of the invitations and table numbers himself. We found a great stamp for the escort cards and stamped them on small pieces of mulberry paper. We made the place card holder with wine corks that were collected for months and months by friends at the bars where I work and my mother painstakingly tied hundreds of them together. Instead of a guest book we ordered a Polaroid camera, some photo corners and a blank album. My daughter, Zoe, took pictures and laid them out in the album and our guests found their shots and left a note. I’m so glad we have that keepsake.”
