Mad Hatter’s Afternoon Tea Party: Claire & Iain

Claire and Iain were married in May at Maunsel House in Somerset. Their quirky Alice in Wonderland theme was beautifully incorporated throughout, from the stationery and paper goods to the high tea style catering and even the bride’s two fabulous mini top hats! The ceremony and afternoon tea both took place outside which made for some utterly stunning photographs from their photographer Emma Case.

Choosing our venue was the hardest part of the process, we wanted somewhere were all our friends could descend for the weekend and also wanted as much of the day to be outside as possible”, began the bride. “We fell in love with Maunsel at first site, gasping like children, as we were shown round each room but the outdoor pagoda seating area clinched the deal.”

“Picking the right photographer was one the choices I was most worried about getting right, both Iain and are definitely much more comfortable behind the camera than in front of it. We were looking for a fun and relaxed feeling from our photos and I was blown away by photos that Emma took of a friend’s wedding and the great feedback about Emma and Pete’s ‘aisle side’ manner. We were so excited when they were free on our date. We were not disappointed, the times during the day that we spent with them were just a scream and the our photos capture the emotions and fun we had throughout the wedding.”

“We had no idea what we wanted for our wedding when we started planning”, Claire continued. “All we knew was that we wanted little bits of us to be in it and to have a great party. The theme kind of evolved naturally, we always wanted the day to be fun and relaxed which is why we had afternoon tea instead of a sit down meal so the evening party could start as early as possible. I also knew I wanted to wear a hat and when I chose my dress the mad hatter tea party theme clicked into place.”
