The Story Behind the Flying Wedding Dress: Marie & Pedro

August 23, 2012

Are you ready to have your mind blown? Well just look at this dress shot – what a brave bride – and yes, it was all her idea! “I got my inspiration for the dress flying photo from a picture from the Brazilian designer Karlla Girotto,” explained Marie. “The picture was from her summer 2007 campaign and it showed a parade of her dresses hanging on balloons with the models in front of them.”

AMAZING.

And for those of you doubters who love to scream “Photo Shop!” at every opportunity (I know you’re out there!) photographer Danilo Siqueira used super thin fishing wire to keep the dress tied to the ground and then released the balloons with the dress hooked onto them.

Wow.

Wedding photographers, the bar has been raised!

Anyway, as soon as I saw that shot on Danilo’s website I knew I wanted to feature the full wedding… and would you believe, it only got better with every image.

The celebration was held at Espaço Cantareira in São Paulo, Brazil. The couple wanted a colourful, fun and carefree wedding and they certainly achieved that. The bride wore (well, when it wasn’t flying in the air) a dress by Marca Pó de Arroz and they DIY’ed as much as possible including all the reception decor and the stationery. They also used local suppliers as much as they could.

“The pictures were our favourite thing about our wedding”, Marie concluded. “We’re so pleased we had Danilo to capture our day!”

Mind. Blown.

Thank you to Marie & Pedro and their photographer Danilo Siqueira for sharing this gorgeous wedding with us today.
