A Red & Black Rock n Roll Wedding: Theron & Erin

Happy Monday everyone! I thought I’d start this week with a bang, some much needed sunshine and the gorgeous May wedding of Theron & Erin. The couple were married at Vizcaya Pavilion and Mansion in Sacremento and had a red & black themed celebration.

“Our advice to future brides & grooms would be to stay organized and delegate tasks in order to stay sane”, Erin told me. “Don’t change anything in order to make other people happy… stay true to who you are and what you like. We knew that people were going to want to rock out and mingle, so we didn’t force anyone to a sit down dinner… it was all about the open bar and heavy hors d’oeuvres!”

The couple strived for an out & out Rock n Roll vibe with music, shot glass cake toppers and a hilarious but super personal ceremony being some favourite details. “My husband thought it would be badass to have one of our groomsmen, a talented guitarist, play the Top Gun Anthem as our exit song… He did and it was awesome. I couldn’t have been happier with how it turned out! In addition, our cake toppers were little shot glasses with a little glass bride and groom at the bottom. One of the best parts was one of our groomsmen becoming ordained, just so he could marry us. He did a very loose and casual ceremony, fully equipped with a Rick Roll in the middle. Hence the reason I’m laughing through a majority of it. I knew, he knew, part of the wedding party knew, but the other 180+ people didn’t. It was hilarious. I guess you could say our inspiration was simply ‘fun’. We didn’t want anything traditional – the exact opposite, really.”

The bride wore a short dress from Whirling Turban with amazing custom painted shoes by Yellow Brick Road Shoes on etsy. “Every bride deserves the best day ever”, Erin concluded, “just don’t forget to take it all in. I know it’s cliché, but it really does FLY by, so enjoy it to the fullest! And don’t be afraid to be crazy when planning… non-traditional is the new black!”

Awesome. Thank you to Theron, Erin and their photographer Beth of True Love Photo for sharing today.

Loving the whirling turban style of shoes! Gives me something to spy when I’m at work anyway… I’m currently considering this for a wedding I’m heading to in two weeks. Wondering what you think? (I’m trying to get everyone’s opinion atm!)

  4. Whenever I see the words red, black, and wedding in a post, I know I am going to be in love with it. My colors have always been red and black, so much so that for one of my birthdays all the guests had to be dressed in those colors. Any time I am going through blog posts I make sure to read carefully and really connect the words to the couple and the photos. I completely agree with Erin, non-traditional IS the new black. These days everyone wants to add a little bit of themselves to the wedding and that’s what makes the day so much more special. This wedding really had so many unique touches. I love the brides outfit. She looked stunning in the Whirling Turban dress and the custom painted shoes are rockin’! It’s great that the photographer captured how much fun the couple had and the pictures where the bride is laughing you almost have to smile. The venue is great the shot glasses are even better and the song choice is very awesome =).
All in all a very fun, RnR wedding! Kudos to the vendors and RNRBride for the post!

Thanks everyone for the great comments! The design on my shoe is actually a drawing of the pistol from The Mexican… the movie with Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts. The also say “Til Death” and “Do Us Part” on the barrels… with little bullets with our initials. Adam did an awesome job, I tell ya! Missed you Cooks!
