A Rustic Australian Vineyard Wedding: Richard & Eleanor

April 18, 2012

When Richard & Eleanor’s wedding landed in my inbox I was sure there was some sort of mistake. Photographer Lakshal Perera must have meant to send this to one of the more glamorous wedding blogs surely? But before he could realise his mistake I’d replied with a ‘oh hell yes I wanna feature this’ and he was trapped with Rock n Roll Bride.

I am of course kidding, but there is just something so incredibly beautiful about this wedding that stopped my in my tracks. The wedding was held at Henning’s Vineyard in Colbinabbin, Australia. “Making the wedding feel like our own was really important to us,” the couple explained.  “Given our time-poor life (we both work in forensics) we happily shopped for the wedding online on an evening, in our PJs with a glass of wine. Etsy provided us with lots of fine details that made the day extra special.”

“The inspiration for our wedding day was to include everything and everyone that made us happy. The entire day was spent in the small community where Richard’s family live and most of the High Tea reception was decorated with second hand items from local op shops plus handmade vases from recycled jars. We only offered food that we would ordinarily feel guilty eating. We made sure the local wine and cigars didn’t run out and we had a lolly bar large enough to feed the whole community (which is where the left-overs went!)”

Stunning. Thank you so much to Richard & Eleanor and photographer Lakshal (who everyone called Lucky – and he sure was lucky to be able to shoot an amazing wedding like this!) for sharing with us today.
