A Simple & Fun London Wedding: Danny & Dylan

Sometimes the simple and fun weddings are the ones that steal my heart…especially when the first photo I’m sent is this one. Amaze…

“We didn’t want a big formal wedding and we didn’t want the sort of off-the-peg wedding we saw on offer in all the hotels,”  the bride, Danny, told me. “We kept everything simple and relaxed and organised it all in about three or four months.  We were so happy with how laid back and informal it was on the day.  Everyone told us organising a wedding is the most stressful thing you can do, but if that’s the case they’re doing it wrong! We enjoyed every minute of it and had a fantastic day.  We knew that all we had to do was get all our friends and family together in one place and we’d have a brilliant time.”

The wedding was held at The Star and Garter pub in Putney. “The venue made such a difference to the vibe of the day, having a wedding in a pub was brilliant and suited us both so much, Danny continued. “We decided before we’d even picked a venue that we’d really like to have pie n mash and the Star and Garter did a great job of arranging that for us. The food was fab, we were even craving it when we were on our honeymoon in Iceland!”

The bride had a male ‘bridesmaid’ and the groom has a female ‘best man’. “We didn’t set out to be deliberately different by having a male bridesmaid and female best man, it’s just how it worked out,” Danny explained. “Paul wore a suit from Topman and Jess wore a red dress by Stop Staring.”

Danny’s dress came from Vivien of Holloway. “I altered the halter-neck strap making the dress strapless and added some simple brooches from Accessorize. I didn’t do the whole big dress shop with anyone.  I had tried one other dress on previously but as soon as I tried the Vivien of Holloway dress I knew it was the one and it was a perfect fit.”

Thank you to Danny & Dylan and their photographer Elly for sharing.

“Our photographer was amazing and fun, my advice choose a photographer who is relaxed, professional and has the same vision as you do for your day,” Danny said. “Elly enhanced our day and really captured the essence of us and our wedding. The ideas she had for our wedding were exactly what she created.”

I adore their wedding – the whole day looks so wonderfully simple, fun and unpretentious – just how it should be :)

  2. Ha ha – was starting to wonder if that was the groom in the first pic – thats some really offbeat stuff there, but I love it anyway…. and the mustache pic is so perfect!

  3. Haha! at Addie, he was just some random semi naked guy you occasionally see out and about in London. We did ask his permission, he was very sweet and he actually didn’t stop reading his book.

  4. Love the humour in some of those pictures – really got me smiling! What a great idea for a venue too. I will have to check it out, as is not too far from where I am based!
