Kate & Jeff’s City Chic Circus Wedding

December 16, 2010

After attending a countless weddings over the years, Kate & Jeff knew that they wanted to do something different, something daring and something exciting for their wedding day – and different they did! I mean, how many weddings have you seen where aerialist and trapeze performers dangle over the reception!?

“We knew that we needed to do something a bit different so it felt like our day, rather than a version of someone else’s day,” began the couple. “We wanted a wedding with a chic city-feel, in the city that we both love. And we wanted to show Bristol in all its glory to our friends and family from the South-East… without reverting to cliché’s.”

“We knew the Old Council House would be a beautiful place to get married, especially on a Saturday afternoon with the hustle and bustle of the market as a backdrop. And when we found Circomedia for the reception, we both fell in love with it. Not only is it a spectacular building, but we knew we would have the freedom to put our stamp on it, which was really important because we didn’t want to have any details dictated to us by a venue – we wanted to work with local suppliers who would get our personalities and would each bring a special something to the day.”

“We wanted to celebrate the use of the venue as well as the beauty of it so we asked the Circomedia if we could have aerialist and trapeze performers and we decided that the circus would be a loose theme to base the fun around.”

The day was a very stylish and sharp affair, with all the guest turning up in their finest. The dress code was “sharp suits & flirty frocks” and the bride lead by example in a chic retro style dress, custom made for her in ‘oyster’ duchess Satin by Gilly Woo. Kate wanted a consistent palette throughout, but without things looking too regimented – so the bridesmaids all had individual outfits in the same colour scheme. The flowers were a variety of seasonal blooms in different combinations, the place names were hand printed and the vintage crockery was mismatched.

So fabulous! Huge thanks to Kate & Jeff and their photographer Rosie for sharing this awesome day with us today
