Retro Rockabilly & Heart Shaped Sunglasses

I’ve got yet another bit of retro rockabilly lovin’ for you today, in the form of Nick & Jamie’s Santa Barbara wedding. The ceremony and reception took place at The Rockwood Womens Club which proved to be the perfect backdrop to their day. Jamie looked stunning in her Maya dress by Michelle Roth, but it had a bit of a story behind it! “”Ohhhhh the dress….it was almost a nightmare! It was a Michelle Roth “Maya” that I bought used on Oncewed. I took it to a local alterations lady who cut it too short and messed up the top! Luckily I have a dear friend in the fashion industry, Denice Dir who saved the day by not only adding the black tulle underneath, sewing in a petticoat and took 45 minutes to carefully seam rip the top and fix what the other lady had messed up. She even made my dog’s collar piece out of my dress trimmings and surprised me on the day of my wedding with the special stitching she did inside!”

Jamie designed her own invitations and had them screen printed by Itty Bitty Press with the calligraphy being done by DancingPen on Etsy.

Thanks to Anna for sharing these today

Hi Kat! Thanks for featuring my wedding! I can truly say it was the best day of my life! Because of all of the positive feedback following my wedding, my coordinator Lynn and I have gone into business together doing event design and coordination. Check out True Blue Events for more fun, exciting and creative weddings to come! We absolutely LOVE your blog….

Love it! I also wore Maya for my wedding in April. I’ve only seen a few “real weddings” with this dress and every one of them has been so different. It’s really cool to see all the different interpretations of the same dress. Jaime, you look great! Love the black tulle addition.

  3. Awesome stuff. I’ve got a Rockabilly themed wedding coming up this September for one of my clients and this is some great inspiration. Some nice fisheye!

This wedding was even more beautiful than I can describe. From their English Bulldog leading the way, to the rock song processional, to the punk rock band at the reception, this wedding was FUN! Jaime and Nick, along with her partner Lynn from True Blue Events designed and organized everything themselves which made it even that more personal and special. It truly reflected Nick and Jaime’s personalities.

This looks amazing – the colour scheme and the venue are great and I totally love that the wedding party wore converse sneakers – especially the cute wee flower girls! It looks like a really relaxed fun day and the bride’s dress is lush – I’m a huge fan of the 50’s tea length!

Where did you find your wedding dress?! I’m having a rockabilly wedding in July, and I absolutely adore your dress!
