Timeless Vixen

May 8, 2010

With a name like Devereaux, it was pretty much a dead cert. that her wedding would be cool and chic, and that her dress would be vintage and fabulous. The dress came from Timelessvixen, which she teamed with a feather fascinator from Pegasusmaiden and ‘Stephanie’ shoes by Coloriffics. She also wore a vintage coat and clutch bag which she already had in her wardrobe.

I was lucky enough to chat with Devereaux, who told me all about her and her husband, Justin’s wedding…

“Our taste is very mid-century modern, so it was natural that our wedding have a retro feel. I bought my dress off of Ebay on a whim, and it wasn’t until I tried it on that I realized it was my wedding dress. I think what made our wedding rock ‘n roll is that we just did what felt right to us and didn’t sweat the small details, or worry about “wedding standards.” Our guiding principals were to keep things small (we had just under 50 of our closest family and friends), simple, and fun. To us that meant casual food (tacos and tamales), plenty of beer and wine, and a great playlist (put together by my husband with some help from me). We picked our venue because it was reasonably affordable, had a great view of downtown Austin, and the stone building looked cool with minimal decoration. My husband wanted to wear a chocolate brown suit, so I picked purple for the bridesmaids dresses and orange flowers because I thought they would look nice together.”

“We had a short and sweet ceremony. My bridesmaids and I walked down the aisle to the Avett Brothers’ song January Wedding. We hadn’t found my husband a ring yet, so we used a grocery store twist-tie. We had our first dance to the Bright Eyes song First Day of My Life. After that we opened up the dance party and everyone joined in, including my grandma and our little niece, who rocked out in her footy pajamas.”

Thanks to photographer Lauren for sharing this images with us and to bride Devereaux for sharing her wedding story.

Lauren will soon be moving to Aberdeen, Scotland and is hoping to find some Rock n Roll Bride’s over here to shoot! Drop her an email if you’re interested.
