Big Rock Candy Mountain

December 12, 2009

Even if I do say so myself, today’s posts are freakin’ awesome. You’ll see why…

First up Taylor & Dominique’s ridiculous – in the very best way – casual Californian wedding. The details make me swoon. Her 1950’s vintage dress and veil, their tattoos, the cute little owl cake toppers (made by Taylor’s Mum  – Dominique’s Mum make the cake) the bridesmaid’s Betsey Johnson dresses – what’s not to love? This is one seriously smokin’ awesome and freakin’ cooool couple.

The wedding took place at Parkfield, California and their wedding theme and inspiration came from one of their favourite songs, Big Rock Candy Mountain.

Their wedding planner Kristen of Jour Parfait send me all the juicy details so I’m just going to hand over to her for this bit:

Taylor & Dominique’s wedding was all about DIY- Lots – Taylor & Dominique collected all the plates from garage sales and the swap meet.
They collected the bull dog, bar man, gum ball machine that sat on the bar.
They collected all the furniture for the smoking lounge and put up a tree in the middle with cigarettes hanging from it for all guest to take.
Each guest had a mason jar with chalk board painted on it for them to write their name on.
In the champagne glasses we put colored rock candy at the bottom so when the champagne hit it would turn different colors.
Taylor hung all the lights, bird cages with lights and old window frames that he put their engagement pictures in and spray painted black
They made a great mixed CD. They recorded big rock candy mountain with both of them.
Then they had matches as more favors.
Dominique walked down the isle to a Ava Marie, recorded by her late grandfather.
The linens were also made by the Mother of the groom.
Lace covered the picnic tables
They had a large popcorn maker with many toppings for guest to have as the evening went on
Bleachers were put up for guests to sit at during the ceremony
Karaoke was part of the entertainment
All guests could camp over

Thanks to Joshua, Kristen, Taylor & Dominique for the sharing. Love love love
